Description
An historic DG course that has baskets from the home area of the father of Disc Golf, “Steady” Ed Headrick (PDGA #1), Beaver Brook Campground DG in North Monmouth, ME was formed in 1978 and is one of the original ten courses in the USA. And the original baskets exist! They have single chains with some wear that has baskets bent and tilted. The wooded fairways are well broken in and you can hear the trees tell their stories of past rounds played. This course was the original site for the Maine DG Championships. Frisbees were the original items used and you can see certain holes that were designed for that type of plastic before the modern discs used today. A fun chip and putt par 3 course that allows the player to carry mids and putters instead of a hefty bag. Tee boxes (insert cough here) are marked by tiny orange flags on dirt that may have been moved by hikers and campers over the decades. Fun holes with a special 125’ hole that drops straight down from the tee box (try some unique shots to get in ⭕️ 1). The longest hole is marked as a par 5 at 310’ but can easily be played for an eagle for the average discer. All other holes average about 170’. The campground provides a lakeside, a store, bar, and picnic areas. A must play for a DG bucket list.
