Course name
Deerborne DGC
Course location
Elkford, Canada
Headline
Heavily wooded moderate-length course hidden in the Rocky Mountains
Description
This course has 18 holes that span a large wooded area that has been thinned, so expect to navigate a little bit of deadfall. The first 6 holes play from the gravel parking lot, and then the next 9 holes are on the other side of the road that bisects the course. The final 3 holes are back on the original side of the course leading back to the parking lot. The annual PDGA disc golf tournament held here is called the Deerborne Gutshot.

History
Kevin King moved to Elkford in 2013 and began work to get a disc golf course installed shortly after arriving. Since he worked for the town, he was easily able to meet with town council, the finance department, and the recreation department to begin taking the steps necessary to establish the course. Council gave him support to pursue the project in 2013 and later approved the location of the course on Deerborne Dr at the south end of Elkford. Funding came from multiple sources in 2014, but primarily from the Elkford Project Society and the Columbia Basin Trust. The course was installed in 2014 with rubber tee pads, tee signs, and Innova Discatcher Pro 28 baskets. In 2024, town council approved funding to add alternate pin locations for all holes and those were installed that spring. Steel benches were installed on each hole in 2025 thanks to funding from the Elkford Project Society and the Elkford Community Fund - CFKR.
