History
Designing a course was a dream of mine going back to the late 90s. In 1997 I looked at my first property, and was not able to afford one at the time. I set goals, developed my knowledge base and skills as a course designer over 20+ years. In designing several other courses before this one, I was also developing a 'master plan' for the land and everything else I'd want to include.
I grew up on a golf course, and played a Robert Trent Jones course quite a lot growing up. I studied golf course design most of my life and am heavily influenced by Robert Trent Jones, Pete Dye, Tom Doake, and Ben Crenshaw designer philosophies. Disc Golf Course designers like Steve Winchester, J Gary Dropcho, John Biscoe, and John Houck all had significant influences on my design technique and philosophies as well. Historical private courses like the Grange, Maple Hill, Paw Paw and Hawk Hallow all had influences on what we wanted our course to be like.
The property was purchased in and course design began in Feb 2020. Having the ability to choose a property, knowing the desired difficulty prior to property searching, and having a clear idea and concept for the course and property allowed us to really look and find an ideal parcel to begin building the dream on.
A vast amount of work went into the course, driveway, parking, camping areas, tee box builds, benches, and fairway clearing/manicuring. This would not have been accomplished without the help of our friends that came up many weekends over the first 3-4 years.
We will never be able to thank them enough.
Full 18 holes were ready for play by 2023. The first PDGA tournament was Aug 12-13th 2023, Hillvitational.
In June of 2024 we purchased the adjacent parcel to create additional camping, and eventually build a 2nd smaller course.
We have plenty of camping space, warm up area, parking already; with plenty of future plans that are well laid out.
Hillside course improvements, pond digs, fairway grading and seeding, tee pad area improvements, amenity improvements will continue for years.
