Description
There are a number of ways to play the course. In all, there are 30 holes plus a 9 hole Pitch and Put course for quick games and younger kids. The Main Course is 27 holes. This can be split into the Lower 9 (holes 1-9), Middle 9 (holes 10-18) and Upper 9 (holes 19-27), each of which begins and ends near the main picnic pavilion. In the Lower 9, holes 1, 3 and 6 can be split, making a 12 hole course called the Lower Short Loop. Courses are very well maintained, paid for by donations by local businesses and community members through an adopt-a-hole type program. To cut down on wear and tear to the environment, holes are periodically moved which may lead to the GPS being a little off. Environment is semi-arid high desert steppe climate peppered with sage brush and juniper. Players may come across snakes, rabbits, the occasional coyote, and plenty of lizards. the park overlooks the community of Sun Valley, which extends to the south. The course is sandy and rocky, with many holes setup on or near outcrops, so drivers will get dinged. Terrain is hilly, with discs sometimes finding their way down into coverts with fairly steep sandy slopes.
