Course name
Pine Grove Middle School
Course location
Parkville, Maryland
Headline
Technical mix of open and wooded holes, 18 holes using 9 overlapping baskets
Description
This fully functioning 18 hole course utilizes 9+ baskets but 18 different tees, with no two shots ever feeling remotely the same. Certain holes have options for longer baskets to play to, so just look for that in the SMART LAYOUTS section. The course surrounds the perimeter of Pine Grove Middle School's sports fields and provides a fun but challenging game. Tight wooded lines, OB sports fields, creek beds, rolling hills, and some rough, will make you play at the top of your game and shape shots if you want to get under par. Pine Grove has a shot for every caliber player and pushes the envelope on tee shots, scrambling, and putting on tight greens. The tees are mostly worn in dirt patches, so make sure to bring proper footwear in case of recent dew or rain. If you can throw an even score you're a disc golf hero, this is not a silly schoolyard course, it will test your every strength, and expose your weaknesses. As the second oldest course in Maryland, this place has many locals willing to call this place their HOME course and happy to point you in the right direction. The team of passionate regulars to the course work hard to make the grounds as enjoyable as possible, eliminating almost all of the ivy, downed trees, and tall grass whenever possible. Please be careful when playing down the fairway as some holes do overlap. Also, please use discretion when functioning within school hours, as any sporting events or school activities take priority. You'll be able to find hole one by parking in the school's lot and following the access road to the right of the tennis courts, all the way down to the practice basket (adjacent to Pine Valley Swim Club). From there the course wraps in a rough horseshoe-like pattern around the sports fields until you play holes 10 and 11 on the sidewalks at the top of the hill directly adjacent to the corners of the school. The course then turns you back toward hole 1 on the same baskets but with new lines from a fresh set of tee pads. JOIN US! GLOW EVERY TUESDAY NIGHT!
