The disc golf course is set-up on a decommissioned golf course and has some open fairways, but there are many technical holes using the mostly mid-sized trees on the course as obstacles.
Description
Red Kiln Park is a private Park with restricted public access. It is a former golf course that is now a multi-use park including Disc Golf, camping, corporate, community, and family events, laser tag, etc.
Enter the Red Kiln Park via the north gate or east gate entrances. The north gate is closer to the disc golf Hole 1 tee and the clubhouse. The east gate has better car parking. The east gate is opposite an area with several large white dome greenhouses and a small wind turbine electricity generator.
There are toilets at the clubhouse near the new 2023 Hole 1 tee and also other toilets about 150m east of the Hole 12 basket and Hole 13 tee. This second toilet block is just inside the north gate at the old Disc Golf clubhouse from the 2022 course design. There are also toilets 100m inside the park near the east gate entrances.
The Disc Golf clubhouse is in the far west part of the park. The clubhouse is currently still being prepared and is not fully open yet and there's no food or drinks available, but we can store extra gear there while we play. Hopefully there will be at least a drinks fridge there soon and maybe a disc shop after it has been fully refurbished too.
There are 18 holes on the course all with championship level Prodigy/Yikun T2 baskets.
The ground is mostly quite flat, but with undulations of 1m - 5m elevation change. There are a few holes with some baskets on knolls (very small hills). There are also some open fairways, a couple of water carries, and the new 2023 design adds several more wooded or partly wooded holes. Also, one or two holes have baskets elevated on 80cm brick platforms.
Generally, concrete paths along the left and/or right sides of a fairway mark the OB lines, except when the path is in the middle of the fairway as they are on several more holes of the redesigned course. i.e. Paths crossing a fairway laterally are not OB.
On many holes selected bunkers are designated as Hazards, so if you land fully inside one, then you get a +1 penalty, but play from where your disc landed (I.e. don't move your disc). These bunkers are old golf sand traps that are now mostly grassed over and can be difficult to see unless they are marked for an event and you won't know which bunkers count as Hazards unless you are with an experienced player. There is a map of the Hazard bunkers on the China Mainland Disc Golf page on Facebook though. Hopefully the new tee signs will show the Hazard bunkers accurately.
Currently they don't, but in future all/most holes will have a short tee/DZ. If you are playing the long tees, but want to avoid a risky water carry, then you can play from the short tee/DZ for a 2-stroke penalty.

Pay - To be announced soon. - Following the redevelopment and February 2023 reopening, a pay-to-play fee is being planned, but it has not been clearly announced yet. Parking opposite the east gate is free. There should not be an additional fee for disc golfers to enter Red Kiln Park.
