9-hole beginner course at Shelter Bay Community
Description
Shelter Bay Community's beginner-level 9-hole disc golf course shares its space with a 5-acre, 9-hole, par-3 chip-n-put golf course. The course offers great views, elevation changes and a few obstacles, with shot lengths ranging from 130 feet to 340 feet. Playing a full round takes about 40 minutes and covers 3,000 feet of walking. Tee pads are 5'x5' and are shared with regular golf. Golf greens should be treated as obstacles and avoided. Shelter Bay is a private community, and this amenity is for the exclusive use of residents, marina tenants and invited guests.

History
Disc golf was added to the community's existing golf course in 2025. The golf course was originally established in the 1970s. The course was designed through a joint effort of the community's Facilities and Amenities Committee and the Social and Recreation Committee. Designs were drawn by a community member, and the course was vetted by a DGA course designer, who is the son of another community member.
