With multiple tee pads and baskets per hole you can choose your own mountain disc golf adventure at South Mountain!
Description
Founded in 1997 as an Eagle Scout Project South Mountain Disc Golf course sits atop South Mountain in Bethlehem PA and winds through the wooded mountainside traversing rocky terrain and elevation along the way. South Mountain has grown over the years with additional concrete tee pads getting installed on 17 of 18 holes in the late 2010’s and now multiple targets on every hole. South Mountain features 18 new Mach VII targets as well as the original 18 Mach III targets in alternate positions and Red Mach III’s on holes 5, 9, 14, and 17 that identify the courses par 4’s. Overall South Mountain’s layouts offer hole lengths between 150 to 450 feet covering all 3 angles of flight that are mostly wooded and varying elevations. The result of this growth is a course that offers different layouts that can fit all skill levels from beginner to advanced. South Mountains “White” tee pads, identifiable by their painted white stake behind the tee sign are from the original course layout and tend to be either the “easier” position or shorter position to play from where as the Red tee pads identifiable by their red painted stake are the newer tee boxes that offer you a different length or angle for your shot from the traditional white tee pads and generally offer a greater challenge for players looking to test their skills. Hole 17 features a half white half red painted stake as it is the only hole on the course with with 1 tee pad. The course offers benches to rest at on most holes as well as seasonal rest rooms located near hole 7 and 9’s tee boxes open during the spring and summer months. While there are some cliffsides that may result in a lost disc South mountain really only has 2 OB area’s the first being the Parking lot of the course itself which comes into play on the lower holes like 1, 16, 17, and 18 the other is a fenced in area near the water tower on Hole 10. Players be advised to check for ticks post round as the woods are their turf.
