Course name
The Confluence
Course location
Troutdale, Oregon
Description
The original iteration of this course was a 12 hole layout extending to the Sandy River. Vandals had stolen the basket for 3, and the recent hike/bike trail improvements removed 4 more baskets(12, 1, 2, and 4) and the ground work on the area also eliminated the old natural tee for 5. These are the Lucky 7 Left at the Confluence. This is the new layout. No longer having the original number one available, it seems senseless to be parking where the City of Troutdale originally envisioned. Having a retail supporter; Disc and Dice, of the course in the outlet mall makes using the back side parking of their store a natural fit with its close proximity to the store and the tee for the new number one (old 6). The new layout plays from the corner of the property near the freeway and outlet mall, there is a paver tee pad there, the basket is straight ahead. Tee for 2 is to the right of the basket near the second set of gates in the fence. The target is behind the large lonely tree in the middle. After completing 2 you walk the path past the basket about 40 feet and to the right you find the paver tee pad for 3, going back the direction you came. The basket is located amongst a small throng of trees. The next paver pad is for 4 and it is roughly 110 feet to the right and along the access path, it shoots down towards the back side of downtown Troutdale. From this basket you follow the path to the pavers for 5 which is located directly behind a line of trees 270 some odd feet away and slightly to the left. From this target you walk towards the back of downtown Troutdale, along the old access road/path you will find the final paver tee pad, the corresponding basket is straight away in the open field beneath the water/cell tower. From this basket you follow the old access-service road/path until it appears to end. Walking through the improved grass towards; in the direction of US84’s overpass crossing the Sandy River, this new tee area for 5 is within the smaller of the two sitting/play areas put in through the trail improvements. It is the sidewalk area in the Northwest corner (I’m trying to get it marked) , there will (soon) be two marked Mando trees, and the middle rock area (unimproved) should be considered OB as should any paved area and beyond. All paved surfaces should be treated as OB.
