History
The Tigard High School Disc Golf Course was created through a collaboration between Tigard High School staff, local disc golf advocates, and community partners to introduce disc golf to students and the surrounding community.
In 2024, nine permanent baskets were installed thanks to the combined efforts of Construction and Design teacher Jamie Swindle, Athletic Director Ryan Taylor, World History teacher and disc golf enthusiast Chris Thompson, and support from Uplay Disc Golf, All Day Disc Golf, and Stumptown Disc Golf.
During installation, PE teachers began using the baskets immediately to introduce students to the sport, reinforcing the course’s mission as an accessible, beginner-friendly layout. Final tee pads and signage were added to help make the course welcoming and easy to navigate for new players.
The course is intended to be a fun, low-pressure introduction to disc golf and a shared resource for students and the community during approved hours.
