Description
Yonder Hills Disc Golf Course is a private 27-hole course set across 34 rolling acres of Palouse farmland in St. John, Washington — 18 baskets on the main course and 9 on the short course. The corurse is still in its infancy so we hope it will grow into your heart even with all of its quirks and flaws. This land has been in the Schierman family since 1916. Tom Schierman spent decades planting thousands of trees by hand across these hills, turning working wheat country into the lush, shaded oasis it is today. His sons James and Jon are continuing that work — the course is actively being developed, with rubber tee pads being replaced with pavers and permanent signs being installed now. The bones are exceptional. The views are unlike any public course in the Inland Northwest. No tee backups. No crowds. Just you, the wind, and the Palouse. OPEN NOW — RESERVATIONS REQUIRED This is private land. Do not show up without a confirmed reservation. Text James at 509-288-9901 to book. Day use is $15/person. History
A disc golf course started as a suggestion from a stage manager that we hired to help us with a concert on the farm in 2005ish. Too many years passed and it started to sink in as the sport grew that it might be fun and this property might have what it takes.. I collected whatever I could find for redneck baskets or tonepoles: 120 gal propane tanks, tractor tire rims and combine parts.... After less than a year of that, I decided baskets were a worthwhile investment especially for my own enjoyment. Disc golf gives me a way to take breaks from land managment. SO 18 baskets sprouted over the farm. And then realizing the full course was too much for a retired father, I decided to purchase 9 more for a short course. Now dad and I play 9-18 baskets almost every day. The property and course will probably always be under some construction and the property constantly evolving with new amenities and events. The barn is getting closer to the completion of the restoration project and the course is redesigned to put the full 18 on one side of the creek and the short 9 with camping on the other side. ALL TEES ARE CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION DURING THE BARN RESTORATION PROJECT. RUBBER TEES MIGHT BE PLACED AT TEE POSITIONS WHERE NEEDED UNTIL PAVERS ARE SET. I want to give a shout out to all the supporters and vounteer crew. It would not be what it is without you! Thank you for allowing me time to focus on the barn and organize my priorities. Here's to continuing a dream.
