The Great Rebellion DGC celebrates Hillsdale College's Civil War heritage and features a free and open-air front 9 and a treacherous wooded back 9. Scan for the caddie book on hole 1 to see the designed layout as all physical OB markers, mandos, etc. are no longer a part of the college's vision for the course.
Looking back at the narrow low ceiling 15th which features the course’s only hole through the pines.Hole 7 from near the gold (par 3) and red (par 4) tee box. A path just right of what is visible in this picture is out of bounds. The tee shot on hole 9, the last hole on the “open” 9 of The Great Rebellion DGC.Hole 12 from the narrowest gap on the course. Don’t let the camera lens fool you, in person this gap is tight.

About the course

An 18-hole layout with a mix of open & wooded holes, the Great Rebellion provides a big challenge to every skill level with its various tees. It navigates through Hillsdale College's Hayden Park starting in the open and moving into the woods on the back 9. The layout focuses on variety and shot shaping. Open fields, out of bounds areas, and some big distances await on the front. But on the back, you'll be in for a tight test in the woods. First time at the course - you should consult the caddie book QR code on hole 1. The White tees have cement pads - the rest are natural tees. Posts mark the red, white, and blue tees. those wishing to play the golds and pinks will have to consult the caddie book and find whiskers marking those sets of tees. Bathroom only prior to hole 1. No garbage collection on the course - pack it in, pack it out. Most of the course you can zuca/use a cart, but a few short spots are a tough. Pink: Rec shorts, for those who throw about 150', pdga <650, new players and juniors. Red: Rec longs, for those who throw about 250', pdga 650-850, new but good disc golfers. White: Advanced shorts, about 325' distance throwers, pdga 850-925, very good players. Blue: Advanced longs, about 375' of distance, pdga 925-975, great disc golfers. Gold: Elite/Pro, >425' of distance on golf lines, PDGA >975, reserved for only the best of the best. Designed and cut in by Hillsdale College Economics professor Michael J. Clark.

Multiple layouts so match your skill level according to the caddie book provided w the QR code on hole one and you’ll have a good time. Layout is awesome for great players with open air space, distance, and OB on the front, and tight lines and trees on the back. Private property so need to be with someone associated with the college for now.

Layout is awesome. Only thing holding it back is the entire woods is nothing but poison ivy and the bugs about carried us out themselves. Will be back in the fall for sure
