About the course

Best and most beautiful course in KC. Full range of environments from open fields to challenging trees. The Waterworks Park Disc Golf Course was established in 1997. The terrain is very hilly and moderately wooded. Many trees with lots of elevation changes, some places extreme. Good combination of long open holes and short accurate ones. Beautiful park with stunning skyline views of downtown and the Missouri River.

A well-designed disc golf course should embrace the terrain’s natural features to focus on balance, variety, and fun. Waterworks new course layout unfortunately overemphasizes repetitive uphill shots to the detriment of the player experience. A redesign was probably needed, but one that integrated a better balance of shots that better utilized the rolling hills would’ve vastly improved the enjoyment. WE DON’T LIKE THROWING UPHILL OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. This course is only fun in the shorts now. But hey, the new tee pads are seriously awesome.

After seeing all the high reviews of this course, I had to try it. But after playing it, it DOES NOT deserve the high rating in the slightest. There were three notable holes that were unique and enjoyable. The rest are the exact same type of shot, either uphill or downhill. The only variety you really get is the elevation changes. It seems like the thought process behind the entire course design was: Put a teepad on a hill and the basket straight ahead fairly far away. There are two good things I can say about the course though. The teepads are the best teepads I have ever used personally. They are massive. The view is also beautiful. Very good location to have a course for sure, but please have someone design the course in a way that 1: Caters to both advanced and newer players at the same time (two baskets on every hole) and 2: ISN'T THE MOST BORING LAYOUT EVER. Black hoof is leagues better in every single way asides from the view and smaller teepads. Such a massive disappointment
