About the course

Please be courteous, patient, and considerate of other park patrons as it is a shared park. Full 18 hole course with both long and short cement tee pads and A and B basket placements with one set of baskets. Like most courses, can hold water during rainy season. Challenging course that requires a lot of technical shots. More water holes than most courses, but all water shots have a bailout. As always, respect the park and it will respect your shot. Currently Most holes are in the B position. Baskets have arrows pointing to next tee. Keep negative reviews to yourself.

History

I played the prior course a couple times and it needed to be redesigned. In 2018, After walking the park many many times while experimenting with flight lines, I was able to lay out about 22 different holes. I approached the Hilliard Parks Director with my idea and he was very open to the idea. He had been involved in a couple other disc golf course installations at previous jobs. After obtaining funds from the park to buy the baskets, they also funded the install of the concrete tee pads. The city was wonderful to work with. I got the opinions of a number of players from the Columbus community and made some changes they recommended. Hole 3 is Steve Duros' idea. Hole 15 long is Brad Schick's idea. Kristy Moore helped a bit too. Once I started rolling I was able to enlist the help of some of the locals like Jacob Smith, Jason MacDowell, and Bill Neighbarger and others who helped me clear brush and pour concrete for the baskets. The first disc lost on the course was on Hole 2 and was a red corvette which I don't want back. Too stable for me. The long tees had artificial turf pads but these kept getting vandalized, so the city had the long tees poured in cement. Eventually I was able to install the unjustifiably maligned B pins. The people that like to play love the B placements as they add a lot of challenge. More changes are coming in the future and I hope everyone enjoys this course for decades to come.

Pros: -several fun holes -multiple risk reward water carries -well mowed grass on open holes Cons: -B pins are clearly incomplete -most basket areas are messy or uncleared -wooded fairways need a lot of work (holes 6-14 in particular) -many completely blind tee shots -far too many walking paths, ball fields, and roads in play -some of the long tees were clearly afterthoughts Overall okay course. There is room and potential for easy improvements with the existing infrastructure to bump this course up to 4 stars or higher. My main concern is pedestrian safety on busy days as the designed shot too often flies down the path of the roads and walking paths.

Those B pins are horrible. Tripped on barb wire and was sent the wrong direction from basket arrows several times. Abandon those pins until some work is done.
