This is the fourth year we've offered disc golfers the chance to share their thoughts in a survey in the UDisc disc golf app. Each time, a section of the survey asked for their opinions about disc golf disc brands.
UDisc is the most popular app in the sport for scoring, finding disc golf courses, and more, and thousands of players from across the world elected to participate in our last survey in the latter half of 2024. Here you can find out which widely-available disc brands those disc golfers most liked and trusted in various categories.

How Did the Survey Work?
We asked survey takers to rate popular disc brands in a few areas on a scale of 0 to 4:
- 0: Poor
- 1: Below average
- 2: Average
- 3: Above average
- 4: Excellent
Participants could also opt for "No Opinion" or simply skip the question.
In sections below, you'll see which brands ended up in the top five of different categories ranked by average score ("no opinion" answers weren't considered in the averages in any way). We've also included the percentages of people who gave the brands either a 3 or 4 in the category as well as those who offered no opinion so you'll have a bit more context about the overall average.
Note that though this survey was available to anyone with the UDisc app, the people who spent their free time completing it were, unsurprisingly, more into the sport than most. We know that because most of the participants had far above the average number of rounds logged in UDisc. That means the results you'll see below are based on the opinions of people who spend more time with discs in their hands than the typical player.

MVP's average score in this area rose 0.6 from last year, helping it unseat 2022-2024 best plastic champion Kastaplast. In fact, you'll see MVP took over the top spot in every category we share in this post with the exception of disc availability, where it ranks fifth.
It seems MVP is winning over ever more disc golfers with their overmold technology. Overmolds are rims of dense plastic chemically bonded to the rest of the disc that MVP says enhance their discs' gyroscopic properties. Learn more about the process in this look at MVP's interesting origins.
Though we're sure they'd prefer to nab the #1 spot, House of Discs (HoD) likely isn't too upset to have both the #2 and #3 brands in this area. HoD is run by Latitude 64° founder David Berglund of Sweden. The enterprise owns Berglund's original brand as well as Kastaplast and other well-known brands Dynamic Discs, Discmania, and Westside Discs.
The fourth and fifth-ranked brands in this area, Innova and Discraft, both released their first disc golf discs in 1983, making them two of the oldest extant disc golf disc makers.
In fact, Innova was the first company to manufacture discs with a beveled edge, which is a feature almost every disc golf disc has today and a huge reason they don't fly like normal Frisbees. The company also garnered the fewest "No Opinion" and "No Answer" responses of any brand included in the survey.
Best Mold Consistency in Disc Golf: Top 5 Brands
Rank |
Brand | Average Score | Excellent Rating % (4/4) | Above Average Rating % (3/4) | No Opinion/Didn't Answer | Y2Y Rank Change |
1 | MVP | 3.49/4 | 45.86% | 20.42% | 25.61% | Same |
2 | Kastaplast | 3.27/4 | 27.81% | 20.38% | 41.30% | ▲1 |
3 | Latitude 64° | 3.23/4 | 29.42% | 23.50% | 33.75% | ▼1 |
4 | Discraft | 3.12/4 | 26.29% | 27.76% | 29.57% | Same |
5 | Innova | 2.95/4 | 28.52% | 23.50% | 22.90% | ▲3 |
When disc golfers talk about "consistency" from a manufacturer, they're referring to how much they can rely on new discs of the same mold in the same plastic and weight (how heavy a disc is affects its stability) to fly the same way. This is important when players lose discs or when discs beat in and their flight patterns alter (frequently-used discs tend to get more understable over time).
For example, let's take a disc from the brand with the top average score in consistency from our survey results, MVP. The company has a putter called the Ion that they produce in a variety of plastics. Let's say you buy a 170 gram Ion in MVP's recycled plastic line, R2, and it flies just as MVP says it should: fairly straight with a little bit of fade at the end. You love your 170 gram MVP Ion in R2 plastic, but one day you lose it. Obviously, you want to be able to buy another 170 gram MVP Ion in R2 plastic that flies just like your old one did.
And, given MVP's high marks for consistency in our survey (likely due to their high level of care in this area), you're likely to get your wish. As you can see, MVP's percentage of "Excellent" ratings in the mold consistency category eclipsed all other brands'. What you can't see in the table, though, is that no brand outside of the top five had combined percentages of Excellent and Above Average ratings that equal the mark MVP achieved.
It's also worth noting here that for the first time in our annual survey, the top five in plastic quality are also all top five in mold consistency.
Due to that, it's very easy to see the dip ratings tend to take in the "consistency" category. Every top five brand experienced a drop in Excellents in consistency as compared with plastic quality (Kastaplast being the hardest hit with a fall of over 16%). This is an indication of how difficult it is to get hot plastic to set in the exact same way every single time you put it in a mold. It might also suggest that disc golfers can be a tiny bit persnickety about whether a new disc flies just like their lost old favorite.

The thing you'll most want from a brand isn't just great plastic or mold consistency but a mixture of the two, so we took a look at which brands came out on top when their scores in these areas were averaged out.
The averages don't produce any big surprises if you've checked out the last two tables, with the same five brands that led the other categories also coming out on top in the averages. This marks MVP's second year in a row at #1 in the combined plastic quality/mold consistency category.

It's always good to know that if you lose a go-to disc, you can easily find a replacement. These companies are likely to have you covered – especially Innova.
Another positive thing about discs with wide availability is that you can often discover great deals on your favorite molds in the ever-growing used disc marketplace. Check out our guide to places in the U.S. and Europe selling used disc golf discs online.
