@dennyvarner
Disc golf needs its own area. Most of these holes are literally right on top of baseball/football fields. Hole 18 basket is maybe 10 feet off a parking area. Very little in the way of signage and UDisc isn’t accurate to the course.
@natebyrne
Just put in new lights on holes 14-17 and moved a few baskets around! For sure the most fun I’ve hade in a while playing this course.
@micahmcgaughy
Well kept with lots of OB. The school, baseball field, and football practice field make it unplayable sometimes but still fun
@bobothefool
There are a lot of holes where the short baskets are missing, leaving only the long baskets. Signage for the short baskets is also missing for about half of the baskets, probably due the proximity of the baskets being so close to the high school. Makes it confusing, and you cannot play a proper round.
@nharris820
Poor design. Most holes are around ball fields and on a school campus. Only a hand full of holes worth playing. Most are gimmicky and feel like they were thrown into random places for the sake of having a course. Much better options to play within a short drive from this course.
@ussmzm
Need to relayout this course. Distances are not accurate and signs are missing. I quit after 5 holes because basket locations started going on school property during school hours... not sure if that’s cool or not… awkward layout.
@chefreid
Fun course. Do not go if it's busy with baseball or sporting events. Very public place and lots of pedestrians depending on other events. Overall tun course.
@aaron625
Udisc doesn't always show the correct basket layout, but very fun course overall. Great beginner course
@donman
Some tees are in different positions and/or missing
@acuraboom
Not bad for school grounds
@tcrichardson1
Pretty easy, with one killer hole. Can’t play some holes as the line is over baseball diamonds, but still a fun course
@traynerex
Well maintained. Very scoreable, not too crush heavy. Lots of OB makes this course challenging. Downsides are that this course covers the local high school and sports complex. Therefore, it can get busy during baseball/softball seasons and school hours
@posquatch
I like the coarse, but its too close to the road and school
@sfaast
Lots of short holes with a few bigger, open shots. Adding longer tees. Nice, well kept park playing around the high school.
@awdavis116
Was once an amazing course. Maybe it took leaving for realize it’s not so amazing. Fence around tee pad on 1. Signs falling down. Construction crews on 3 of back nine holes. Head on over to Double Creek or Montevallo if you want to play in the area.
@hoffmaned
Every time you play this course Calera Parks and Rec has made some kind of improvement. Wether it be more drainage, new pads, new pin positions, new bridge, etc. Quickly became the best course in Shelby County. Only problem with this course is if there are baseball games or events.. some holes can be unplayable due to traffic or cars cars parking in the fairways. But every other Parks and Rec should be taking notes from these guys..
@lawrenceofal
Hole 1 starts by throwing over a baseball field. It’s fun to homer it. Then there are several birdie holes (under 250) until you get to the field. Then OB comes into play on several holes. This is mainly due to the road that runs along several holes. Most are still birdie shot, however the main OB is a par 5 with about 40’ of clearance before the road comes into play. Without the road it’s a par 3. Fun coarse with a little of everything. Woods, OB, hills, and putter shots.
@alanh1964
Fun new course opened in 2020. Mostly short holes but there are a couple of open, longer holes where you can air it out. Mostly open but a few holes play in the woods. Nice use of elevation changes. Play on or over all roads, paths, retaining walls and parking lots as OB and the course gets pretty technical. The baseball field on hole 1 plays as a hazard. If your drive does not clear the field play where it lies with 1 stoke penalty. Great new addition to Shelby County disc golf scene!
