For what it is, this course is fine. 18 baskets in a largely open field makes shot variety a real challenge though. It’s a fun track to practice your 200, 240, and 270 foot shots though. When some of the trees grow in it will be a bit better.
@generalwurmser
Colonsay is a fantastic course. I have played the course one time. They spent $15k on 18 Discraft baskets. They have young trees, elevation varieties, and a very well thought out course. Fairways are cut and weeds are abundant in the rough. Bring bug spray, and if you don't like bugs, stay out of the rough. The baskets have the arrows that point more or less to the next tee box. I went with a couple locals who showed me the way. They do however, have the paths cut to the next tee boxes. Suggestions: some of the crap needs to be moved away from some of the tee boxes. Allow as much room as possible around your tee boxes. Overall, this course is going to turn into a fantastic course because they have people dedicated to building it and maintaining it. It's a nice little gem in the rough on the way to Murray's. Show these people some love, and stop by their course. You won't regret it.
@watson723
Good short course, baskets point to next tee, tee boxes marked with small orange sticks, (could use small flags or larger markers). Tee boxes are grass.
@robinsonlisa
Tee pads could be better marked but appreciate the current markings. Tons of badger holes-watch your step. Wear bug spray. Great looking course-will be back. Chances of losing your disc in the pond is fairly slim.
@damnrights
It'd be nice if the teas were a little bit better marked definitely have to use you disc. The first couple holes are a little tedious cuz it's more back and forth but after like the whole I kind of opens up it's a little bit better play I will definitely be coming back it's a very short distance course mostly need a mid-range only a couple holes where you might need to pull out a distance driver. I'm not fun course
@beeballca
I am very glad we stopped it was a fantastic layout they did a great job with what they had and planted trees it was worth the stop
@icewolf7
It seems easy but the wind and marshes add to the complexity. Will come back for sure.
@tombonombona
Decent beginner/intermediate course. When the planted trees grow in it will be a lot of fun. Anything over 15-20km winds adds a good challenge. The grass was about a foot tall and could use with a mowing. Be careful on the teepads as they are only dirt and can have weird footing. Also what where you step as there are tons of gopher holes. Fun course in a small town. Glad to see it was added
@ironwolf
Decent 18 basket course. Would be a great course for an AM event. Basic straight shots making it not very challenging but a good TD would know what to do with it for an event. Par 3 course.
@brandonredekop
Great new course! More trees coming, but it is already fun for all skill levels. Very short walks between holes, well planned. Parking lot with green fence posts visible from highway, hole 1 near left corner of lot.
@pdgasask
Well the course was just completed just over a month ago! The Colonsay maintenance are planting trees and the rest of the trees will be finished next year! They could use a bathroom on the course although the Coop has bathroom facilities a block away!
@clint34
Not a particularly difficult course, but still fun none the less. Will be better when the trees grow in. No bathrooms or water on the couse but the Co-op is nice and close. I will definitely come back to play it again on a day that isn't ridiculously windy.
@brayden10
This course is very beginner friendly. A lot of the holes are the same but as the trees mature there will be more variations between holes. It’s also right off the highway so come get a round in if you’re driving through colonsay.
@speargun
A sign in the parking lot pointing to home one.
@drystone
Newly developed course - more trees to be added to increase difficulty on fairways
