1. Is a great hole. Shallow distance but is down hill with a low ceiling and a slick green with a drop off behind the basket. Don't leave it short. 2. Is a good forehand warm up that you will definitely need going into the next 9 holes. 3-8 are all poke and hope with no fair gaps. Its scramble golf and luck. 9 and 10 get you in the open for a couple short putter shutters maybe mids. 11 is a fun and fair. 12 is a pointless poke and hope. 13 I would say is this courses iconic hole. Needs no change. 14 just like 3-8 and 12 could be great with some fair gaps. 15. Wow this could be and elite level hole. This tricky downhile hole is wasted with 2 trees 80' from the tee shaping an impossible shot for how far back to the left you need to get in order to get to the basket. And swiftly followed by poke and hope. If they would get rid of the two trees and make 2 , 13' gaps at the end and change it to a par 3. It would be a chefs kiss. 16 is a good hole with a fun shot shape and made extra challenging by the wind coming off the lake. 17. A pointless pin location. The location is pretty but it would appear looks overruled functionality. The basket should simply be placed a top of the hill toward the exit of the woods and made a par 3. 18 is too simple. It should be pushed out another 300' into the 5 trees. Parking lot o.b. could make for some exiting finishes. Seriously. With all the valleys and baskets placed against them would make for some very technical disc golf especially with all the elevation. Unfortunately this is not a functional course. Come if you need to work on your scramble game. That's most of the holes from pad to basket. Or come to throw hole 13 and then leave. This course has SO much potential and its honestly heartbreaking to see it how it is.

This is a really great course. Good shot variety, only really missing some tougher left-to-right turning shots. Needs more love!

Mostly gimmicy shots with lines that are so tight or nonexistent. There are a few fair holes and some good scenery. Easy to find the next teepad, but don't feel upset if you score bad here. You need more luck than skill at this course.

One of the best State Park courses I've played. Easy pars, challenging birdies. Fun round with only a few gimmicky holes.

I was staying in the Wilmington area and needed a place to play disc golf. The course I went to was closed, so I found Cowan Lake. Personally, I love this Disc Golf park. It’s got a variety of different holes and distances plus a few holes with some nice elevation. The overall design of the course flows well and starts off with short holes through the woods, but then starts to lengthen by the time you get to hole 14. I feel a couple of holes could get rid of a couple trees, but for the most part, I think it makes it challenging and not so open. There are a lot of the fairways that are carved out pretty nice and well maintained. It’s not a real difficult difficult course and you can get it done in a couple of hours. Overall, it’s my kind of course… Specially, if it’s hot out and the sun is beating down on you, most of the holes are in the shade in the woods.

Some lack of lines on the front. Off fairway on the left on 13 is ridiculous thorn city. Zero garbage cans in the park, let alone the course. Fun nonetheless. 3.5 stars for now. Course is absolutely cartable. It’s improved over the year I last visited.

It has a lot of potential but still needs a lot of maintenance and significant amount of trees removed. A few holes are wildly overgrown.

A nice challenge with par at an intermediate posting. More woods than not . Score early the longer holes from 13 on will test a bit

Well laid out course with signage guiding the way. Nice use of elevation as well as a mix of technical and open holes

Just needs a few more trees cut down that would make for more fair lines and trim some low hanging branches. But great course all around

Great course. Good views. Nice grippy tee pads. The lines in the woods are so tight. Front 9 makes you work. Will definitely be back.

This course is new. It has great potential. I like it. Need to cut down some of those 1” trees. There are way to many. No shot is open. I’m sure it’s not finished.

Great course. For the most part put away your high speeds and you’ll have a good time.

Course has potential if they would clear downed trees, make clear lines to all baskets and clear paths between holes. Until then this course is not worth the drive. Nice tee pads and excellent baskets. Front nine is a lot of low ceiling tight wooded holes. Back nine lengthens out a bit. Wish they would have used more of the ravine in the course design on the front nine. If they are planning alternate pin positions that would be great locations. Once the course breaks in with trails and cleaner fairways it could be great.
