Diamondhead Lake in Dexter Iowa used to boast an 18 hole championship level golf course back in the 1970’s and 80’s. This past spring (2021), it’s been transformed into a disc golf course. The course starts out with a couple of open shots and then kicks back into some wooded and technical shots. Getting out of here with par should feel like a big win! Plenty of par 4’s and holes to score on, as well as some birdieable par 3’s.
Currently there are markers for tee pads on natural grass, however concrete pads are in the future plans. There are multiple baskets on some holes, and once tee pads are put in, signage will be added as well.
This course will only continue to improve over time, and will hopefully become public in the future. The hope is to bring tournaments to the course, and help grow the sport.

Beautiful scenery. Fun shaped shots. A couple bombers. Open holes, water hazards, wooded tight gaps, it’s got it all.

Considering no pads or signs, this is an excellent course and will be on par with the best in Iowa once those two elements are in place. Good mix of open and wooded holes with interesting elevation in play.
