Wear pants and long sleeves. The wooded holes need trimming and there’s poison ivy and wild parsnip we are trying to tackle.
About the Course
Diamondhead Lake in Dexter Iowa used to boast an 18 hole championship level golf course back in the 1970’s and 80’s. This past spring (2021), it’s been transformed into a disc golf course. The course starts out with a couple of open shots and then kicks back into some wooded and technical shots. Getting out of here with par should feel like a big win! Plenty of par 4’s and holes to score on, as well as some birdieable par 3’s. Currently there are markers for tee pads on natural grass, however concrete pads are in the future plans. There are multiple baskets on some holes, and once tee pads are put in, signage will be added as well. This course will only continue to improve over time, and will hopefully become public in the future. The hope is to bring tournaments to the course, and help grow the sport.

"Considering no pads or signs, this is an excellent course and will be on par with the best in Iowa once those two elements are in place. Good mix of open and wooded holes with interesting elevation in play."

"Only giving this 4 stars right now as it isn’t completely finished yet. The course needs tee pads, a few signs indicating where the next hole is, and we didn’t find holes 15-18. However the courser is very well layer out and fun. Half through the woods with some challenging alleys and mandatories, the other half out in the open. I’d say moderately hilly overall…hilly for Iowa. Perhaps if you have a big arm some of the holes will seem short, but there should be enough challenge in the woods."
