Ken is a great guy and the course, his creation/baby, is lovely. Lots of good lines and clever use of the very hilly terrain. HOWEVER, there is no Udisc map, there are no pictures on the signage, and if Ken doesn't play with you, good luck figuring out where the goal, the next tee, or even what direction you're supposed to be throwing. Gave up after 7-8 holes (not sure what hole I was actually on at that point.)

So I found my dream property today. A beautiful place with a great big disc golf course on it. Ken is a great guy and works his butt off to keep the place looking so good. The hippos was awesome to see and our favorite was the SpongeBob one. After Ken explained how to navigate the course it was easy to follow. Thanks again Ken for a great day.

Public course on private property. Layout is great. It will take a minute to get the hang of it. It’s has to be a lot for one family to maintain. It’s a wood course a lot of shot shaping and hitting gaps. It’s a must play if in the area. Ken is very friendly and helpful.

Definitely one of my favorite course, Beautiful view and an enjoyable round for all skill levels. I would recommend to others and am planning on returning in the future. The tees could use some work, but it's nothing that will hinder your experience. Also, make sure to watch out for ticks (this goes for any course this season).

I had a very positive experience at Hippo Ridge DGC. The property and course was beautiful. Ken the owner of the property was very hospitable, genuine, and pleasant. I felt valued in the small dialogue we exchanged. I was shocked by how well maintained the property was for its sheer scale in size. It was a testimony to Ken’s stewardship and care for the land. Had as much of a positive and fun experience playing disk golf and taking in the volume of diversity in plants, softwood and hardwood trees. Hippo Ridge is a gem and treasure trove to nature enthusiasts. The disc golf course was excellent and a blast. Thank you!

We decided to visit Hippo Ridge for one of the events for my brother's bachelor party. I don't have very much experience with disc golf, but I don't think that that's a requirement for writing the most confident 5-star review I've ever given. I can't speak highly enough of Ken Sampson and the effort he's put into turning his property into such a beautiful course, open to the public. I would highly recommend anyone to visit regardless of skill level. This has been the highlight of the bachelor party, for all four of us. If you do visit, take the time to connect with Ken, he's an amazing guy!

Fantastic magical course. It’s a hike, but a beautiful one that will require every shot you have. A definite must-play.

Ken has put together a great course. Great variety of shots and extremely well maintained. Highly recommend if you are ever in the Athens vicinity. Settlers of Catan was our favorite Hippo.

Beautiful course. Ken is awesome. Will be playing again. Very fun and with multiple tee locations and par changes with holes makes it a challenge for all and still stays beginner friendly.

Most fun course I’ve ever played, tee boxes are a little rough but I didn’t mind one bit. I had an absolute blast!

Tee pads are gravel/grass on some holes. Would be tough to navigate without an experienced guide since there are many tee options. That said, every time I stepped up to a new tee I was impressed and psyched to throw. So many great holes and lovely countryside. My whole crew raved about it, we had an amazing day playing purple tees. Top 5 ever, seriously.

Great course, fun and challenging layout, manicured very nicely! Can’t give it 5 stars though, pads are not good, slipped off numerous times for errant shots, and no signage!

Super course and manicured like an elite ball golf course. Beautiful fairways and challenging shots. The private course to compare all other private courses too. Will be back!! Great job!!

Such a special place. Ken has taken years to specially craft and care for this place. Such a beautiful piece of property and a true hidden gem in Ohio. If you’re a true disc golfer, you need to make the time to visit this place. So much fun and I can’t wait to go back and bring others to enjoy it with me. Thank you Ken!
