About the course

A short 15 basket course as part of the mixed-use Jackson County Recreation Center and Cullowhee Valley School properties. Playing and walking conditions are good throughout the majority of the course but be advised this site is usually somewhat busy and hosts events and ball games on many weekend dates. Holes 13-18 are on school property and not playable during school hours. Holes 1-3 are currently missing due to the recent construction & expansion for the pool complex. 2025 Update: Working on updating the uDisc configuration for this course to take advantage of the new features of the app and will be working to re-establish a new Long-format smart layout that avoids current line of site and obstacle issues. Also communicating with the Rec Center administration to evaluate options to restore holes 1-3.

The course feels a lot better and more interesting than some reviews would suggest. To some degree you could play it out with just a putter and cruise through, but there is enough variation in some of the holes that invite you to challenge yourself and try different things. Hole 15 is a bit aggressively designed compared to the rest of the course and does feel out of place, and hole 9 does have a problematic line over a mixed use space, but outside of those issues I think it's a great course for beginners to get their first even round, or for intermediates to practice their touch game.
