About the course
Welcome to Johnson Farm! Johnson Farm is a private Disc Golf Course located near Ashley Corner in Southern Ohio. “The Farm” is built on the old Johnson Farm, which has been in the Johnson family for over 80 years, and has been called “the most breathtaking piece of property in the Midwest” . We hope to offer an excellent disc golf experience. Enjoy the journey!!
The Course
Johnson Farm is an 18 Basket disc golf course and was designed by famed disc golf designer and architect Robert Johnson in 2024. Johnson grew up on “The Farm” and, although as a child he had never heard of such a thing as “disc golf”, his life journey and introduction to disc golf brought him back home, akin to Jack Nicklaus, to design his opus, his masterpiece, his Falling Water, his Sixteenth Chapel!! Johnson is best known for his design of the famous “Snyder’s Henroost” (sponsored by G Rhea). Johnson took all the lessons he gained from “The Roost” and incorporated them with the teachings of the best minds in modern disc golf, including Sias, Houck, Harr, McNeilan, and Docterman. “Johnson Farm” is an attempt to offer a world class disc golf experience in Southern Ohio. This “experience” includes beautiful views, elevated tees, multiple challenging lines, and a variety of challenging basket positions. The course requires accuracy, distance, distance - control, and the use of a myriad of throws. Water carries, tunnel shots, risk/reward lines, tight lines, and open fairways, are all a part of the variety offered at “The Farm”. An interesting, and somewhat unusual, aspect of “The Farm” is that Johnson has incorporated characteristics and concepts from ball golf courses into his disc golf course design. Several holes require carries over rough/OB in order to make it to the fairway or green, and resemble the old “Link” style golf courses of Scotland. The influence of Jack Nicklaus and Donald Ross is subtle yet brings a unique style to a disc golf course and the pot bunkers on #9 are classic Donald Ross features. Johnson Farm presents 2 layouts - the “Open” layout and the “Elite” layout. Par is 63 for both layouts but wind is often a significant factor so scores can vary greatly depending on conditions. On top of all that, Johnson Farm is a trek with significant elevation changes and will require fitness and mental toughness. Johnson Farm is disc cart friendly and there is also a “12 basket, golf cart friendly” layout for our friends who need accommodations in order to play (must supply your own golf cart). You will notice that Johnson took no shortcuts in order to get the perfect view, tee placement, or positioning. There are several long walks from basket to the next tee. This characteristic is by design and adds to the physical demands of the course. If you are looking for a quick round of routine disc golf, “The Farm” is not for you. Johnson Farm has been designed to provide an excellent and challenging experience - Physically, Mentally, Aesthetically, and Technically. Distance control, disc selection, fitness, ability to face the elements, patience, and the ability to handle multiple disc golf challenges, are required skills. When you play Johnson Farm prepare for a challenging and excellent disc golf experience!
