Among the 166 Alabama courses I've thrown, Lake Howard is in my top 5. The gameplay and scenery is exceptional and it reminded me of Inverness in Birmingham. Ongoing upkeep will be the courses biggest challenge. I would not recommend this course to MA4s unless they are OK with a beat down even from the short tees.

Hilly and wooded. Fairways are fair. Great course.

Course has a lot of work put into it, clearing and mulching the fairways. It’s very hilly, lots of up and downhill shots! The course layout is confusing it needs markers on the fairways and near the baskets. The pathways aren’t beat in yet so it’s hard to tell where you need to go.

Huge potential with great views. However needs a lot more gleaning and harvesting. 18-layout is also quit demanding physically

Whoever said the course is a “mini Inverness” was right. Bring some hiking shoes and plenty to drink. Fun course but needs some signage for help with basket placement and way-finding. The flow of the course wasn’t great but the holes were fun.

So full disclosure. I’ve only been playing about 15 months. I’ve ridden my mountain bike at this park a number of times so I expected elevation changes but not this much. It’s a lot, trust me and don’t drink water and leave it in your vehicle for the end. I started later than I wanted to and it was pretty hot. Bring your turn/forehand game. Wear hikeable footwear cause there’s some ups and downs. It’s a beautiful course that’s in its infancy. For local players, it’s like Inverness, Clay, Helena and Humble Tree managed to have a baby except the elevation changes make Clay and Humble Tree look like Alabaster. Use something that flops because there’s a lot of roll aways, even on circle 2 soft bids. I’m sure they’ll get it smoothed out under the baskets though. There are a lot of big trees in play but they’re mostly on 4’s where even I was able to scramble and get a par…mostly. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because it’s newly opened. As a retired person, this made my 30th course and I’ve played two other countries so I’ve played a bit even though I’m new. Once they get everything smoothed out and all the chipping/grinding cleared up, this is going to be an amazing course.

Giving it a 4 star because the raw layout of the course is great. Needs benches, next tee signs, and steps cut into some of the steep hills and could be a 4.5+ course. This is physically demanding. Not a good idea for the physically limited. Not a course for an easy going round. Also came home with 3 ticks.

WARNING!!!! If you're looking for a nice relaxing round after working 3 weeks straight..... THIS IS NOT THE COURSE!!...... I now will call this the 'mini Inverness' or even better.... "Inverness without the Birmingham'ness"...... but still, good stuff here. Just need to come prepared

One of the very best courses in Alabama. Definitely in my top 4. Beautiful scenery, elevation changes, fun lines. Worth a road trip for sure. Better to play when the weather is cooler. It’s a beautiful hike.

Course has some of the best mix of wooded shots in any disc golf course I’ve played. Lots of basket options and tee spots. Well maintained. Be prepared to hike and use UDisc to find the right pin position and tee pad!

It’s January 2024 when I am writing this. The course has only been in the ground a month or two at the most. You can see they are still working on clearing paths and installing tee signs. My rating is a reflection of what I think this course can be once it is done and it is broken in a bit. there are some really exciting shots. And death putts.
