About the course

Lake Hopatcong will feature a fully wooded 18 hole disc golf course. There will be multiple layouts, from beginner to recreational to advanced difficulties. Elevation, corners, trees, boulders, and even a water tower will be in play. Par 4's and 5's on a 10,000ft layout will be the crown jewels of the property. The beginner layout will feature many par 3's and visible baskets. This is deep woods, so bring proper attire and protection. A hiking trail winds through the middle of the course. Hikers, bikers, and hunters will be amongst the uninitiated spectators of disc sports in all its glory. A shared recreational property, this will prove to be a busy junction of activity.

History

James Johnson inquired to Jefferson Township Recreation if they were interested in building the park. New York/New Jersey Trail Conference added their weight behind the project. James brought on Dan Doyle. The pair designed multiple accessible yet highly challenging layouts to reflect the full range of skills present in the region. Jefferson Recreation and NY/NJ Trail Conference deftly sculpted the park. James Johnson and Dan Doyle communicate insider knowledge of Disc Golf coursework to engineer the property towards appreciable standards of competition and recreation.

There is no casual walking path through the entirety of the course. The first 9 holes can be observed from the compacted gravel hiking path. The back 9 is mostly inaccessible to spectate with sure footedness.
