Malnava vienmēr bijusi Latgales izglītības un lauksaimniecības attīstības centrs – te kopš 1920. gadiem darbojas Malnavas koledža, kas savulaik bija Latgales lauksaimniecības vidusskola, un joprojām saglabā savu nozīmīgo lomu jauniešu izglītošanā un reģiona attīstībā.
Parkā ir saglabājušies tā dēvētie “Hitlera bunkuri” — padomju laikos izbūvēti bunkuri otrā pasaules kara izpletņveida bunkura sistēmā, kas ir daļa no unikālās vietas vēstures.
