Yo Toto - we ain’t in Iowa no more. That is the easiest way to describe this course. There are a couple little things that could get worked out but overall this course is amazing and so utterly unique. Not just for Iowa but for almost 99% of all courses. Very unique geography as you play on an old quarry and are surrounded by a lake. Absolutely scenic views with tons of elevation changes - especially for Iowa. I’ve played all the top courses in Iowa. And right now as currently constituted I feel Osprey is a legit top 5 course. I’d put it right up there with Wildcat, Pickard, Shaver and probably Happy Acres or Southwoods. I’d have it higher no doubt than Sunnyside, Walnut, Altmaier, etc. Unique and signature holes: Hole 6 - long par 3 throwing down into the bottom of a bowl with huge sand dune backstop. Hole 7 - shorter par 3 throwing now on top of said backstop 50’ or so in the air. With drop off behind pin and beautiful 360 degree views of entire property. Hole 12 - longer par 3 with super cool false front that drops 30-40’ down to green. And plenty of other holes with unique attributes. Come play this course I promise you won’t be disappointed. Cheers to the entire team there in Colfax including Doug and Ryan. Kudos gents.

Amazing course with lots of elevation changes and different shot shapes available. As other reviews have stated super unique landscape for a Iowa course with all the sand dunes. For me a top 5 course in the state already. Im only putting Wildcat Bluff, Pickard, and maybe Shaver and Southwoods above it atm. This has the potential to be even better course with alternate basket locations and some lengthen of certain tee areas potentially bringing more water into play on certain holes. Lots of scenery to enjoy as well with many picturesque views of the several ponds on the property. Added bonus that it has glow golf capabilities and reflective tape already on the baskets.

It’s a decent course overall. Scenery wise, it’s absolutely gorgeous. Cool views of the lake and hills. Course itself is fine, nothing spectacular. A couple cool downhill shots that stand out, otherwise mostly wide open shots with not much in the way. Course flow is great, tee signs are nice, tee pads are very well done. Pros: scenery, cool vibes as the topography is way different than any of the other course in the area, elevation, nice tees, plenty of benches. Cons: redundant shots, not much in the way of obstacles, mostly open shots.

Holes flowed well minus some cross crossing and backtracking from pins to tees. The course offers a variety of shot shapes and hole distances. The course could use some par 4’s/5’s. The elevation and basket placements were what makes this a pretty fun course. Likely to be pretty windy.

This place is a gem, very fun course with next level views. Can’t wait until this course has had some time to break in and some refinement.

Great start and addition to the Colfax area

@lincolnlasourd
Really cool course, this is a must try if you can. Incredible views, awesome tee pads and shot shapes!

@ghost83
The only reason it's not a 5 star is that there's nowhere to fill up water bottles.
@tljacobs13
Great course with some awesome views, I would remove the course being cart friendly though. A lot of steep incline to navigate, although there are stairs to help with the big hills.

@ndeanh
An excellent addition to the Des Moines area. Unique and super fun to play.

@cellenwood
Awesome course. Probably my favorite at this point. Feels like youre in another state. Its still early, but some of the paths force you to walk in front of other tees (usually the next one). Im sure this will be remedied when the course is more mature.

Sandy walk for a good workout but loved everything about the course! Can’t wait to play here more!

@farmboy85
Very unique and fun course. Would love to see a few more par 4s. Also a few walk outs between holes need rerouted but not a big deal.

@markboals
I love the course, the city of Colfax has two amazing courses now, the parks department has hit a home run with this one, so much fun, the glow golf is a lot of fun too, the baskets light up with reflective tape, and the course is on a campground and you can play 24 hours a day, and encouraged because it’s open 24 hours a day.

@tsteward18
What a course! So many different shot selections and the views and elevation. Changes are unreal!
