Overlook Park

"The old layout is unplayable. They removed the baskets for a number of holes (1,3,4,5,17,18). Maybe more since we weren’t going to walk the whole course. New cement tees and baskets for the first 9 holes of the new layout are in but no signage. And apparently the last 9 holes aren’t going to be put in until next year according to the LDGA website. Maybe set as a 9 hole course temporarily once the first 9 are finished."

"A walk in the park. Literally. Prepare for 4 stints of 5 min walks between holes. First 3/4 is big long fairway shots and the last part is alleyway wooded ways and greens. "

"The new set up for the front 9 is nice. Once signage goes up, it’ll be even better. Be careful on the new 2, 4, and 6 - if your shot ends up in the woods, you might want a retrieval stick, otherwise you risk finding poison ivy."

"The fact that the first 5 holes are half a mile away from the rest of the course is just plain dumb. Some of the holes feel dangerous with where pedestrians are walking but most of the course feels beginner friendly. That said, if they don’t keep the rough short in the summer, I imagine this course to be extremely frustrating in regards to looking for your disc. Has potential but needs some redesigning."

"Lots of distance between some holes. Looks like they're updating some tee boxes, but the current ones can be a bit iffy. "

"Fairly beginner friendly course. Some holes are very obstructed off the fairway. Light pars on some as well. Grass wasn't bad but summer months could be hazardous."

"Concrete tees are preferable to grass ones - easier to see as well. Decent signage. Exposed course is very sunny and windy, but fun to see most of the baskets from the tee. Each hole is pleasantly self-contained. Encourages a variety of throws and flight patterns. However, the layout, or transitions from some baskets to tees, is bizarre and often difficult to track. UDisc map and orientation is necessary. I had to drive to another part of the course after five holes."

"I didn’t have as much of an issue with losing discs in the tall grass, I guess I got lucky.. the issue I have is how spread out the course is.. I had to park in an entirely new parking lot to get to the back 9"

"Y’all grass swallows disc. Lost 3 within 50 feet of the pin. Unless your discs don’t have any sentimental value and you have an extremely disposable income, don’t play here."

"Course is too much golf, not enough disc focus. If you can’t land on a dime in the sometimes 20’ wide fairway, you’re in 3 feet high grass or brush- which is fine to throw from but difficult to find even bright color discs. Skip hole 6 without a spotter- it involves throwing over a line of trees to the other side and then keeping to the right- with inaccessible tall grass and creek not far off the fairway. I lost 2 discs there because I was too stupid/pig headed. Most pars are generous, tho"

"During the winter with all the grass down it was a lot of fun. Design is a little weird but it is being redone this year. Worth playing during the winter. "

"Tall grass is a non issue in the winter as it’s mostly dead/low. Very beginner friendly pars on the Front 9. Back 9 is more typical. LOTS of walking between some of the baskets and next tee pads. "

"So all in all I like the course and I like some of the throws. I think a lot of the enjoyment of this course depends on when u play it. In the spring/summer/fall when the rough is grown in would make this course miserable and you'd spend as much time playing as looking for discs. Other than that it is super spread out with 300+ yard traverses between holes. I'm happy to have played it but there are much much better in the area."

"Really fun course, very technical. If you get off the fairway, you are in BIG trouble. Grass tees, maps at each hole, innova discatcher basket with yellow ban. The course is very very spaced out. A good walk from 5 to 6. Overall fun, but when the grass is long, expect to lose discs. "

"Good variety of wide open "let it rip" holes, along with some narrow/blind shot holes. With the grass cut it's not too difficult finding discs, but I can see why it could be an issue when it's not cut. Although there is some signage for directions to some holes, it would of been difficult to navigate without UDisc. "

"Fun course. A good mix of easy and challenging holes. When I went out everything was mowed and well kept. Had no troubles losing discs. "

"I avoided Overlook all summer at the urging of others, which was fine. But when I tried it after the grass was cut this fall, I immediately found the course to be fun and challenging for me. You can air your arm out on the front 9 and practice shot placement on the golf course style fairways. The wooded portion has several narrow tunnels which are fun (when the photographer s aren't using them for family portraits). The par is generous which gave me a confidence boost. Good fall/winter course."

"THIS IS THE WORST COURSE IN ALL OF THE WORLD! IF YOU WANNA THROW AND LOSE YOUR DISCS EVERY THROW THEN THIS IS THE COURSE FOR YOU! THE GRASS IS AS TALL AS 3 FEET AND THE FAIRWAYS ARE LIKE 25 FEET WIDE. ITS IMPOSSIBLE. WHOEVER DESIGNS THIS COURSE AND MAINTAINS IT NEEDS TO BE FIRED ASAP!!!"

"The roughs surrounding well-maintained fairways are long grass that eats discs. Lost 3 drivers, spent more time searching for lost discs than playing, and left in frustration after 10 holes "

"Borderline unplayable due to the grass off the fairways. Like the concepts but if you throw off the fairway even slightly you are more than likely not seeing it again. Fault of the township, not of the designer"

"Overall nice course. Definitely stay on the fairways. I lost a AB tour series Teebird3 just short right of hole 2 basket and a Yellow Star Destroyer short right of hole 7's basket. It'll definitely eat your discs if you land off the fairway. Good luck!"

"Tee off areas are unusual but are level, if not a bit muddy. Course grass seems well maintained. The layout is.. uninspired. Feels designed by someone who plays ball golf, not disc golf. Some pins are very far apart 5 and 6. With a name like overlook park I expected some elevation play, but sadly it's all very level. A great place for field work, perhaps, but very boring to play. If they plant some trees I may come back in ten years or so."

"Layout is confusing a little. Tee pads are a grass circle. Follow sign posts with arrows on them for help. Most are open field shots, links style course with tricky OBs. The grass is currently beat down, seems to be the best/only time to play this course. Enjoyable day. Dog park in the middle of the course is members only FYI. Lots of things going on at this part so it’s almost a sure thing that at least one of the holes will have someone standing on it doing something that doesn’t pertain to DG"

"If you like searching for discs this is your place. Any shot not on the fairway is in danger of disappearing forever. You can see exactly where a disc enters and still not find it. Won’t be returning any time soon"

"I have played overlook a lot over the years. I like it quite a bit, but half of the course is almost unplayable between May and November. 8 or 9 of the holes use tall grass as a hazard or form of rough. It gets quite tall and makes finding a disc that rolled 2 feet off of a 15 foot fairway difficult to find. The grass also attracts ticks, lots of ticks. It is a great course to play in the late fall when the tall grass is dead. I even use the shortened grass as play where it lies OB. "

"Holes seem long just to be long, most of the shots on front 10 feel the same. Back 8 are slightly different but left feeling like there was a lot missing. "

"So many people complain about high grass. Yes, there is some high thick rough. Be accurate and watch where your disc flys if it goes into the rough. Overall, great course. Well maintained! Concrete or rubber tee pads would add that extra touch this course needs, but still great!"

"More signage is needed between holes far apart. Better signage at the tees is also needed. Hole 4 doesn’t have a sign anymore. Very easy to lose a disc on almost any hole due to the brush. Lost my Beast driver on hole 6."

"Course is in the process of redeveloping, with the addition of signage it will be really fun! And flow well if signs direct course traffic the right way. I think hole one is the least fun hole currently. Could become fun with the addition of obstacles or grassy islands. Overall course is improving! Thanks for the hard work to those who have!"

"This was a fairly fun course! Several places had three holes in a wide open field with fairways mowed in it. That made it somewhat boring. The last 9 holes were really fun!! Overall a nice course, a lot of walking!! The tees are a large grass circle and the signs are of no help at all!! They don’t show what is OB and what is safe!!"

"This course is trash! The holes are mundane with tiny fairways and waist to chest high grass, weeds, and chocked full of poison ivy. Also the layout is incredibly confusing! "Friends and I have tried dozens of courses this season, this was far and away our least favorite. Boring holes made difficult by waist high wheat. Save your time, skip this one and try another local course."
