The course is set up on what seem to be a mix of active and abandoned golf holes with natural tees and portable baskets. There is a few to play the course, $10 for 18 holes on the day I was there. I was there the day after a significant rain event, so the natural tees were of varied quality from grassy to muddy. Most holes were long and open with OB areas consisting of the long grass margins off the fairways that were sometimes marked with flags, as well as the sand bunkers and golf greens. Throwing straight and far is the most important quality to have to score well. Navigating the course proved to be challenging, even with udisc mapping. There are a couple of locations where the next tee isnt necessarily the one you see after putting out. Be sure to really study the map, particularly after the first six holes. The course could benefit from some simple navigation signage or even painted arrows. There were a couple of interesting shots to be found, but the general tenor is to throw it as far as you can and try to keep it in the ample fairway and, depending on your arm, either have a putt or a pitch up to the basket. The few forced route shots were all righty hyzers. Hopefully, if the course becomes permanent, there will be tweaks to the layout as well as multiple tees to accommodate a wider range of skills.
@dbsmith1000
They currently aren’t any clear tees and about 1/4 of the fairways aren’t mowed. Many of the greens are overgrown - so are unplayable. I am surprised they took my money and didn’t tell me the course is only about 50%playable.
@kaaaaaaahn
Decent course design but WAY too much OB. Essentially, anything off the fairway is OB and a solid half of the putting greens have OB inside circle 1. Feels unnecessary. Long grass in late April.

@patoink
If the grass were cut and there wasn't an army of gnats flying in my eyes, face, nose, mouth, I'd give it a 4. 2 gnats literally got stuck in my eyeballs, very unpleasant partial round.

@maxathon13
Bomber course with some gimmicky shots here and there. Happy I played it (and accessible by transit is nice!) but probably won’t be back. $10 to get in!

@mrsappy
Excessive OB, very tough, a lot of tight line. Great for pro players. Not recommended for beginners. Other that. Very pretty scenery also it’s golf course. A lot of walking

@drfoxtopus
Open Fri-Sun in the winter. Lots of potential but as others have pointed out, needs more shot variety, better tee pads, and signage. Some fun, veering downhill bomber shots. Op

I’d like to see this course completed 100% before paying $10 to play it again. It will be a good course eventually. Hope to see it completed someday. For now better directional markers would be a good first step to help visitors.
@wildsexybeast
$10 per person, challenging OBs, lots of open long shots, I hope that they will keep this. According to the staff this course is open in December and some of January.

@volcanopuma
Amazing hole shape and variety. Once they get better signage and tee pads, this will be a premier course.
@timbragan
Outstanding, beautiful course with long, open fairways and significant elevation changes provides a unique feel for our immediate area. Really fun to play and would be an instant classic if made permanent!
@andyg1
Awfully neglected on more than half the course. Got to hole 4 (where it splits from the ball golf course) and fairway was waist high and un-mowed. The disc golf course doesn’t get maintained until it meets back up with the ball golfers (around hole 15 I think). Really great overall idea for a course, especially since DC is sorely lacking but if this is left to be maintained by the park service or whoever is in charge, it’s not gonna last. Asked for my money back for the round and the woman behind the counter just laughed it off. Boycott until they get their s^*t together!

@zanemc
Balls golf course. Meh. I'm personally not a fan of this style. Nice scenery. No gaps to hit, weird artificial OB sometimes not indicated on the sign or Udisc. Glad there's something in DC though.

@burlyburlison
New course with lots of potential to be a great course.

@njeffre
Great bomber course to practice your drives.

@statixc
No reservations needed. Parking is free in the lot. Some crossover with the ball golf holes. Thorny if you end up in the rough.

@polanin
It’s been a while since I’ve had this much fun on a disc golf course. The layout is nice and doesn’t conflict with the ball golf course all that much (except for the last few holes). The upkeep is great because of being on the ball golf course. The scenery is what makes it: rock creek is world class and it’s nice to experience it! Would it be better if it was more permanent with better tee pads and signs? Of course. But it’s just getting started and it’s already a great experience. Update after a 2nd round: I’m slightly decreasing my rating (by 0.5 stars) for a few reasons. Although it’s clearly still in development, it also means some work is needed. The lack of tee pads - while forgivable with the newness - makes for tricky play. There’s no permanent signs so some wear and tear is showing. And like someone else said, the way-finding can be tricky (although not too bad). So I still really like this course but 4 rating feels right given the current build.

@travdad
Great potential. Hopefully can figure out a layout that never crosses with ball golf.

@tony
Super challenging layout with lots of OB and elevation shaping the long fairways. Really fun course - hope it stays permanently!

@mattzz10
Update: they have updated the layout from previous years. It appears to keep out from any active ball golf holes. Some long distance with very precise upshots with some punishing OB. Absolutely great to have a course in DC proper. Could use a couple location tweaks but overall a course that has a lot of promise.
