About the course
This land belongs to Scion (the New Zealand Forest Research Institute) who use it as a tree archive and field trials. The local hapū are Ngāti Hurungaterangi, Ngāti Taeotu and Ngāti Te Kahu.
The course was created by Simon Feasey the Man behind RPM Disc Golf in Aotearoa.
Park at the Redwood Center, corner of Te Ngae and Tarawera Roads, or down Titokorangi Drive towards the Redwood i-SITE tourist center.
First tee pad is alongside Te Ngae Road.
Two levels of difficulty, Red (advanced), Blue (regular). Both follow the same general fairway layout. Between the app, the few signs and your Sioux sense of orientation, you won't get lost (too much).
There are only 3 solid tee pads (1-9-18), the rest is turf/grass. Tee pads 6, 11 and 14 are shared between advanced and regular layouts.
This is a dog exercise park, expect people to be walking and dogs to be running around. Use spotters adequately to avoid people and dogs on corners and near paths. Give way to other park users.
No facilities, water fountains, or rubbish bin on site.
Could be better: The grass can be a bit long and wet, my socks are moisty. Discs easily land in thick bushes, leading to an inevitable bogey or disc loss. Birgeys are tempting.

Incredible course, be careful of walkers! Tee pads could use some love but the property is 11/10

Hitting “first available” takes on a whole new meaning with these giant & beautiful redwood trees! A few holes need better signage, we got lost on several holes. Very enjoyable round in a great setting!
