About the course

Tall Pines is currently under construction, playable but rough. Formal Opening expected by October 2025. The current course is 18 holes, with 2 practice baskets. The course is open year round, daylight hours only. However, northern Wisconsin snow fall will hinder winter play. Tall Pines is short (under 4000 ft), but is professionally designed to be a highly technical course. The trees will provide the primary challenge on each hole, but there are some topography and other natural features that will impact your choices on how to attack the course. Our alternate Basket locations will also significantly change the way the course is played. Staying in the Fairways will be key, as the 'rough' is going to be tough play. It is typical under canopy growth for the northwoods, lots of ferns and and dead wood. The fairways differ across the course, narrow, wide, straight, curved, clear, tree infested. You get a variety when you play Tall Pines. All the holes have 1 tee box location with 2 possible basket placements. The exceptions are 6 and 12, which have 3 possible basket locations. The basket locations will be altered on a weekly basis weather permitting, and can be tailored for Tournament Play.

History

Boulder Junction is a gateway to outdoor recreation year round in Northern Wisconsin. The course was conceived and created in 2025 by the Boulder Junction Parks & Recreation Committee as part of its 5 year strategic vision for Outdoor Recreation in our community. Design by a local resident, Mike Kobach (PDGA #11667). Built by volunteers. 80% of the construction cost was privately funded by Sponsors of the course. Original 18 hole course is built on a Town owned 10 acres lot of 100 year old Red Pines - Very Tall. We are currently working with the Wisconsin DNR for an additional Land Use Agreement that would allow us to add 9 holes in the near future. These would be Longer holes, with less trees, more open fairways (but we cant get away from trees entirely). Boulder Junction is surrounded by the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest. We are just starting to make our Course History. Come and Play in Boulder Junction - and bring all your outdoor recreation gear.

Beautiful area, pretty technical. Make sure to watch where you disc goes. Almost if not every Hole, has a next tee sign. Still under construction. Can't wait till next year to play it again, when its all fully done. Met some of the dudes building the pads, very nice fellas
