About the course

Wildwood is an off-the-beaten-path family Campground with a crystal clear lake (great for swimming and fishing), small playground, showers, toilets, and a community shelter. Of the 40 sites, 22 have electric and 24 provide water. For further information or to make a reservation (campground open Memorial Day through Labor Day) call (608) 296-2720 or go to https://wiumcamps.org/pine-lake/campground/. Set within a beautiful, mature white and red pine forest, The Woodland Elf DGC offers two sets of tees throughout the 13 hole layout and has several holes with interesting elevation features. The incredible scent of fresh pine abounds while throwing a variety of fun and challenging shots. Deer sightings are commonplace on the course and you are more than likely to hear Amish buggies clomping by as well as the calls of nearby peacock. Although constructed with an eye on safety, the course currently uses 11 baskets and shares a few fairways as well as a hiking trail. Since the campground is such a hidden gem, however, you are likely to have the entire course to yourself. As the traffic on this property increases we are, slowly but surely, carving new fairways out of some pretty dense woods. There are plans to create 6 new independent holes within the next couple of years, with the aim of completing a full 18-hole course by the end of 2027. Since nearly all of the work on the course is done using hand tools and manual labor, however, it is a slow and meticulous process. If enough interest, volunteer work, and contribution is achieved we can continue to create a multitude of creative holes, on this incredible property. Trash and recycling cans are available just east (to the right) of hole 1, so please pack in/pack out while throwing in order to keep our course clean. Please be mindful that Wildwood is a family campground, so we ask disc golfers to be respectful by keeping a "PG" profile while on the property. We want to continue to build the relationship between Pine Lake Methodist camp and the disc golf community, and we can only do so if those on the course (and at the campground) are positive ambassadors of the sport we love. Lastly, we want your input! The aim for The Woodland Elf DGC is to be an experience or "vibe" that resonates in the minds and hearts of those who love the outdoors. WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS! The more help we get the faster we can open up a full 18-hole course. ***Make a group trip out of it! Up to 6 people can camp in one site, which would only be $5 per person for an electric site. A trip to Montello is less than half an hour away and Wisconsin Dells is only a 37 minute drive. History

The Woodland Elf DGC was envisioned in June 2023 after a significant storm destroyed a small 9-hole course that was installed near Pine Lake UMC Camp in a beautiful Oak Savana. The storm took out several trees, consequently damaging a few of the baskets. Those baskets were removed, repaired, and later reinstalled in the magical Pine forest portion of the property where they now reside. The 9 DGA Mach III baskets were once on a now defunct course at Cascade Mountain ski resort near portage. The more recently installed Discraft Chainstar baskets were acquired from Justin Trails Resort near Sparta.

I love this technical course in one of my favorites campgrounds with the best swimming lake I know. I get myself some high scores once I start pinballing off of pines, but this course will be incredible as it ages into being fully thought out and cared for. Great use of land and baskets salvaged from an old course on more oak savannah. Very fun. Great people. Cool art.
