hi guys, here is my unnecessarily detailed review of a tiny, free 9 hole kourse in Durham: PROS: - FREE TO PLAY • it is located on a skool campus, so bear in mind u gotta play before/after skool hours or the weekend - WELL MAINTAINED • i always am wary of free-to-play kourses upkeeping, but this 9 hole was actually really well maintained -- i think being located at an elementary skool helps limit the littering/general tomfoolery u'd get elsewhere - SHOT VARIETY • there are some short forehand/backhand shots to start (my friend and I threw from ~20ft behind the teepad on holes 1 and 2 to make them more of a standard distance & it worked nicely) as well as some big boy bombers to end it. Honestly, pretty impressive usage of land available. About half the holes are wooded, and half are open field. - SIGNAGE • Every hole has a sign with hole # as well as distance. Hole 6's signpost is kurrently snapped at the bottom of the post and lying on the ground as of 10/12/25 but otherwise are all marked - ACCURATE PARS • every hole is birdiable, and the par 4's at the end (holes 7-9) are theoretically eagleable, but would require great shots to get there, which is nice CONS: - TEEPADS • I want to reiterate that this is a free kourse located at an elementary skool, so expecting professional grade amenities is obviously not going to happen, but the teepads are about 3'x3' squares comprised of small rocks. could definitely benefit from even some small rubber mats or something along those lines BASKETS: • the baskets are all old, single-chain baskets. Again, this is a little, free kourse and I would expect nothing more than these baskets, i only mention the baskets to give you a realistic review of what of what to expect. They are absolutely playable, just dont expect to be putting on innova disc catcher baskets is all. BASKET LOCATIONS: • honestly, this kind of works as both a pro AND a con... the first kouple holes are very short (like just over 100ft). As i mentioned earlier, you kan kind of make your own teepad location to lengthen the first kouple holes and it makes them significantly better. Hole 1 and 2 we just played from directly behind the teepads about 20' further, and it made a nice difference. Hole 7 throws directly at a childrens soccer field (that was in-use while we were playing) which gave a lot of pressure on the teepad to not drill a child with a disc -- which i found exhilarating, but others mite be fearful of. Hole 9 gives you the option to take the safe route, or to test your luck/insurance on running your drive over a small building with glass windows OVERVIEW: don't come to this kourse expecting to play Devils Grove or Fattus Sabattus; this is essentially a "backyard kourse". That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the playability of this kourse. If you live in the area and want to just get out and throw a few discs, you will not be upset by playing here. You can tell that someone put some legitimate thought and care into this kourse. Even though it is located on skool grounds, it still felt secluded enough (on the first 6 holes) where you don't feel like a creeper playing disc out there. Do keep in mind that you'll want to play as far after skool-hours as possible. medium key i kinda rocked with this place & would play it again
