About the course

Drive up dirt road to the parking lot. Courses are open all winter long, please be respectful of the road. Shining Mountain is not responsible for tows if you get stuck. Please check the weather during winter months to make sure your vehicle can make it up the road. Also, don't forget to put some $ in the donation box to help keep up with maintenance. First tee for whispering pines is on the east side of lot, and First tee for Serenity pines is on the south west side of lot. There are signs for both. You must pay at the golf course pro shop first.

The front nine is great. The back nine is gimmicky in my opinion. Most holes require a degree of luck that makes it less fun to play. The fairways haven't been maintained in 5+ years judging by amount of saplings present. And as an arborist and firefighter, I have to say this course needs maintenance for more than just golf reasons. If the pine beetles find this place they will be feasting. And if a fire starts on that back nine it would spread to the crown pretty quick. Too many trees too close together.
