Practice Basket: Not currently Parking Situation: Parking spaces in front of office or parking garage Number of Holes: 18 Difficulty Level: Beginner+ (not particularly difficult to get par just requires some power and accuracy off tee to get a birdie putt) Cart friendly: Yes, the grass can be long in some areas Water Dangers: Yes, a pond/creek runs through the course, nothing you’ll lose a disc in Other Dangers: Other park goers Bathrooms/Water Fountains: Yes to both, a small building between Hole 11 & 17 tee box Tee areas: Grass / Cart path atm Benches: No Trashcans: A few spread out Signage/Wayfinding: No signs but wayfinding is decent, definitely use UDisc to figure out the way Overall Rating: 4/5 Rating Reason: It’s a brand new course but can see it being one of the highest rated in the area after installation is completed. Has some decent bomber holes, some fun elevation changes, a few interesting/tricky greens, some decent views, as well as some fair OB Improvements: Besides finishing installation (tees, tee signs, benches, and signs) I think moving a few tees so you aren’t in danger of other holes is needed as well as a better way to get from Hole 10 to 11 Other Notes: You’re in the sun for 95% of the round, bring lots of water and a umbrella. Also the address takes you to office buildings, use UDisc to park close to Hole 1 or Hole 18

It’s really disappointing to put hundreds of hours of work into designing a course, advertising it, hosting a tournament, sharing data with Northwood (owners), and trying to create a relationship with these folks only to have them pay their landscaper who has no experience with disc golf to install the course. The layout is dull, there are dangerous tee locations that are way too close to the previous basket, basket sleeves are installed incorrectly (baskets are too tall on many holes, there are no tee signs, tees are natural, and there is no signage whatsoever. On a property that was purchased for hundreds of millions of dollars, with a state of the art concert venue, brand new apartments and restaurants, and all kind of other high dollar infrastructure, it’s incredibly disappointing that Northwood cheaped out on disc golf in one of the biggest disc golf cities in the world…especially when they had experienced people that wanted to be involved. Hopefully they will see these reviews and reach out to actual disc golf course designers who know what they are doing because there property is top tier and the opportunities are limitless and what we are stuck with is the worst 18 hole course within 30 miles of town. What a letdown.
@reilly
Since the course is still being installed there are certainly some improvements that could be made to tee areas, signage and flow. That said, this is an open course on an exceptionally pretty property and a fun contrast to most of the courses in the Charlotte area. So cool to see a disc golf course out here. Watch for pedestrians and have some fun!
@tdhkimball
Beautiful property. So sad it’s vey poorly designed. Several tee pads right next to baskets. Extremely dangerous. The walk to 11 is ridiculous. Literally walking up the fairway of another hole. 90% of baskets in the middle of old golf fairways. They really could have taken advantage of tree area for baskets or even tee pads.
@justslingit20
My last rating was deleted? Poor design. Cool property. Lots of potential.
@smithja7
Awesome that the space is being utilized for disc golf but the design and routing of the course are lacking. Cement pads would boost the rating some as well.
@dougernaut23
Nice course. Front 9 could be harder and back 9 is pretty difficult without some power. Wish the tee pass were a little farther from the baskets, but not bad overall.
@noelleerbb
Great course, worth the drive from the city. Impossible to play during the rain or intense heat, but awesome every other time of the year.
@jongilly99
Lots of potential. Tricky beginner to intermediate placement shots mixed with some fun long holes. Concrete or turf pads would be a good update. I love a good hike but a better path from 10 to 11 would be much appreciated by many. 3 guys had to wait on me to cross in front of them just to get to 11
@carpka01
Beginner course. Former ball golf course converted 4 holes into 18 Disc golf holes.
@partyshark
Sometimes it’s okay to leave old ball golf courses alone and not convert them into disc golf courses. Also, the layout making you backtrack after hole 10 is dumb. Use UDisc and be mindful of tee “pads” being next to baskets.
@pizzaparty83
Course is well maintained, however it is incredibly hilly. If you’re not up to date on your cardio, prepare to breathe heavy.
@daderman
I really enjoyed this course! Not many open courses like this in CLT. A refreshing change of pace that challenged shot placement, distance, and putting.
@bigbadben97
Too short. Needs to be a lot longer. Ballantyne really took a bath. It was far better in 2020 and the years before. 16 and 17 are great holes though.
@johnlipsey2
Course is new, without tee pads or signage yet. Pro: excellent space for a moderate length & difficulty course. Cons: spacing from pins to next tee location is tight. Space on the property not being utilized to the fullest, especially parts of the woods. Walk from 10 to 11 is a fishhook and too long. Would also love to see a few par 4s.
@jacobiwankenobi
Needs better pad positions. A lot of uphill / sideways tee areas. Not ideal. Pin placements are great.
@ianrice
Very fun. Unique design. The pedestrian paths intersect with many fairways
