About the course
**COURSE WILL CLOSE FOR THE 2025 SEASON ON 11/25/2025. It will reopen sometime in the spring of 2026.** The Capital Springs Recreation Area 18-hole course is laid out over rolling glacial drumlins surrounded by picturesque prairie areas and offers bicycle access off the Capital City Trail. Manicured fairways, dense rough, and many elevation changes. Often windy, this mostly open layout invites players to score well early on before heading into the wooded middle portion of the course. Hole 16 is an "island" hole (surrounded by OB, not water) and well-known for creating dramatic finishes. 2 teepads on every hole and baskets frequently rotate between short/red, middle/white, or long/blue positions. Part of the Dane County Parks disc golf permit system (along with Vallarta-Ast DGC at Token Creek). $8/day or $50/year, but free for ages 15 and under. Extra $5/day fee for dogs. Purchase permit through Dane County Parks website or there is an electronic kiosk on-site. Designed by Larry Ast PDGA #10781 and Course Pro Ron James PDGA # 23528.

OK beginner friendly course (not with summer rough tho) with mostly wide open shots up and down a hill. Pretty outdated course design. The area by the woods is easily the best part of the course. Could move maybe 4 holes so they start or end in the woods. Add a few par 4s that need two good shots to get to the basket and then the course would be quite good. It is well maintained but for $8 it better be. Does not deserve be rated higher than 4 stars on udisc.

Visiting from Denver and I've seen a bunch of great courses here. This course is immaculately maintained and amazing for beginners. It's a 4 star course due to the lack of shot variety and the difficulty isn't there on 15/18 holes.
