Before I start this very long-winded review, my takes are not because I shot a bad round. I shot a -8 first time here, so please consider that I’m not critiquing this place because I didn’t shoot well, I’m critiquing it because I found there to be issues with design and I’ve played A LOT of different courses, both good and bad, so I feel I have some experience with what make a course good or bad. Considering this course is brand new, there’s some glaring issues with it. First, the maps on the tee signs are awful. Some holes are blind, yet the hole map is so unbelievably vague that you still have no idea where to throw or what obstacles (rough, water, etc) there may be around the basket. Hole 7, 9, 10, 11, and 13 are examples of this. On 10, there is NO indication of the water on the right. Any errant forehand shots will likely go into this swampy area. Hole 14 had a very large drop in the area in front of the basket. But you have no idea because the tee sign just shows a line on a green background pointing to a basket. There’s no indication of ANYTHING HAZARDOUS to your shots. Not to mention the tee sign distances aren’t accurate on some holes as well. 15 is around 430 but the sign says 400. Brand new course, but the distances aren’t accurate? Second, the design has rough super close to the baskets. A 350 ft throw on hole 13 should not have been rough the entire way up to C1. It’s idiotic and in the summer it will be so sucky to try and throw over. The rough doesn’t add anything to the course; it just makes it harder to find your disc and scratches up your legs. Third, the proximity of the holes to paths and roads are also, WAAAAY to close. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 12 all get within 30 feet of the road, and some even intersect with walking paths. I shouldn’t have to worry about hitting pedestrians or cars when throwing. Hole 4 has plenty of space on the left to move the pin over 50 feet. Why is the pin 25 feet from the road? Fourth, the tees are too small. This just seems like a lack of disc golf knowledge. Any seasoned player knows you need more than an 8 ft teepad for a 400+ ft hole. It’s fine on the stuff under 300, but if I’m throwing a distance drive, I need a bit more of a run up. And finally, no benches. This may be something added with time, but it’s nice to sit down at least a couple times during a round and drink some water or have a snack. I will say, I did really enjoy hole 17. It’s a great downhill shot with a nice slanted putt. But overall I’m really underwhelmed with this new course. I feel like Whispering Hills is an example of how to properly do a prairie-style course.

New course, it will grow into its own. It’s prairie golf, so the fairways will be formed by long grass. Has a water carry and an island green. Excited to see this course develop over time.
