Before I start this very long-winded review, my takes are not because I shot a bad round. I shot a -8 first time here, so please consider that I’m not critiquing this place because I didn’t shoot well, I’m critiquing it because I found there to be issues with design and I’ve played A LOT of different courses, both good and bad, so I feel I have some experience with what make a course good or bad. Considering this course is brand new, there’s some glaring issues with it. First, the maps on the tee signs are awful. Some holes are blind, yet the hole map is so unbelievably vague that you still have no idea where to throw or what obstacles (rough, water, etc) there may be around the basket. Hole 7, 9, 10, 11, and 13 are examples of this. On 10, there is NO indication of the water on the right. Any errant forehand shots will likely go into this swampy area. Hole 14 had a very large drop in the area in front of the basket. But you have no idea because the tee sign just shows a line on a green background pointing to a basket. There’s no indication of ANYTHING HAZARDOUS to your shots. Not to mention the tee sign distances aren’t accurate on some holes as well. 15 is around 430 but the sign says 400. Brand new course, but the distances aren’t accurate? Second, the design has rough super close to the baskets. A 350 ft throw on hole 13 should not have been rough the entire way up to C1. It’s idiotic and in the summer it will be so sucky to try and throw over. The rough doesn’t add anything to the course; it just makes it harder to find your disc and scratches up your legs. Third, the proximity of the holes to paths and roads are also, WAAAAY to close. 1, 2, 3, 4, and 12 all get within 30 feet of the road, and some even intersect with walking paths. I shouldn’t have to worry about hitting pedestrians or cars when throwing. Hole 4 has plenty of space on the left to move the pin over 50 feet. Why is the pin 25 feet from the road? Fourth, the tees are too small. This just seems like a lack of disc golf knowledge. Any seasoned player knows you need more than an 8 ft teepad for a 400+ ft hole. It’s fine on the stuff under 300, but if I’m throwing a distance drive, I need a bit more of a run up. And finally, no benches. This may be something added with time, but it’s nice to sit down at least a couple times during a round and drink some water or have a snack. I will say, I did really enjoy hole 17. It’s a great downhill shot with a nice slanted putt. But overall I’m really underwhelmed with this new course. I feel like Whispering Hills is an example of how to properly do a prairie-style course.

Once they get the landing zones will be a possible 5 star, tee pads a little small, lucky my arm is small so it didn’t effect me much

The course has a lot of potential with certain features still in the process of being added (they were marking for signage at the time we were playing) and the open views are fantastic. Be sure to bring water on warmer days and with the taller grass on some holes, long pants wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Has tons of potential to be a great course. One hole the gap that was cut out is very small. The tees are small but thankfully there’s space behind it to use. Some of the landing zones for the holes could be cut back some more. Would make it more user friendly. I enjoyed the course overall. Layout works for what they had to work with. Spotters are a must on many holes here.

A fun and challenging prairie course. Best played with others, as the tall grass and blind shots can make it very easy to lose discs

New course, it will grow into its own. It’s prairie golf, so the fairways will be formed by long grass. Has a water carry and an island green. Excited to see this course develop over time.

A solid prairie course. Lots of cool basket placements: on top of a mound, on a side hill. It reminded me of a mini Crown College. The tee pads are unfortunately very short. Many of the par 3’s are long, makes for a good challenge!

Pretty open course with a lot of tall grass around every hole. Not a beginner course; very easy to lose a disc here in the tall grass. Probably going to be more of a spring and fall type course. Teepads are very short. Course is pretty easy to follow.

Make sure you hit the fairways. Otherwise it’s buried in the tall wild grasses and flowers or in a wetland that was hiding over a hill.

Many may complain about short tee pads and no signage but the course is new. Signs will be in soon. For being a local, this course excels past expectations for an open field course. Plenty of tricky shots and great elevation changes. If the course stay relevant and kept up it should enjoyed by all ranges of players. Fun par 3 course in all aspects.

This course needs some help but it could and will be great. The tee pads are too short. Signs will be added I know but TREES need to be planted and this could be a destination!

This layout is better than this rating, I just hate courses where half the rough is chest high grass and weeds

It's a golf course. Risk/reward. I lost one on the island but it was short and didn't clear the reeds. Open but challenging. Be fun to watch it grow. Thought it was worth the drive.

Fun park course. Nice to have another course in the area, excited to see it grow into itself. Great work to the team that put this all together.

Tough course, not very forgiving if you dont hit the line exactly. Some holes require 350+ ft of distance or else you're in the weeds. Will be coming back, but only with a spotter

Overall nice new course. The teepads are unfortunately too short, however some holes you’ve got enough level ground prior to teepad that’s usable. Layout is sorta clunky but mostly works out, doing their best with a prairie style layout. Handful of blind approaches makes things uneasy for teeing off. Good mix of long and short. I lucked out and played just after they mowed. Course must get long between mowing the fields.

First things first, thank you to everybody who went through the trouble and effort to put in a new course. That being said, this ain't it. First six holes. Pretty fun up and down some little Park shots. Some long prairie shots. It's on the turn into hole 7 that this course seems like it was designed by a masochist. About seven straight blind tee shots to islands of C1 size if not smaller with heavy rough and swamp with no landing areas if you can't make the drive. It's almost laughable. Last 5ish holes are long shot prairies up and down hills even with a 400-ft arm. Some are improbable given even a slight breeze of the day. Highly highly highly advised not even attempting to play by yourself without a spotter. Also would never play all the grass is up. Lastly, these t-pads are almost adorably cute. They're so small. The real question I have is there seems to be tons of space down, left the field closer to the high school that is completely unused and could make for some really interesting in and out holes. Instead they jammed seven holes on the east side, literally along a crazy busy Street.... Thanks but I'll stick to Watertown and crown.
