Beautiful course along rolling hills next to an incredible castle backdrop. Be ready for elevation changes! Offers a good variety of shot choices and some very challenging water carries
@jontweed
Absolutely love this place . Really don’t mind a tall basket when you’re 6ft4. Great challenging course. Definitely worth a trip. Definitely my new favourite course in Great Britain .
@andycarey33
Great course. Lots of challenges and loads of distance. Some tee pads a bit slippy (but it was Dec). Need the main 2 courses setting up properly on UDisc to make scoring and way finding easier.
@frisbeeman007
Not worth £10 but an ok start. Should be free for the next couple of years until design, tees and signage are upgraded
@anwat7
A few crossing fairways and missing tee pads would make it difficult to navigate without udisc. Most holes had tee signs and plastic mats for tee pads. All baskets were raised. Very beautiful and scenic course!
@msharkey
Ripley Castle has potential to be one of the best non-wooded courses in the UK. Great scenery and good amenities. The tee areas were quite slippy, which is tough considering you need to properly brace on them to throw uphill, which a lot of the shots are. It feels like the ratio of uphill to downhill power shots is a little skewed in the favour of uphill, which can be a little repetitive. There's the potential for some great downhill par 4s if the tee and basket positions were reversed. The high baskets look a little strange, and I hope they can be lowered. I would hope that for the price some further changes could be implemented to make this a truly great course.
@dchappers
Disc golf 🤝 castle grounds. Nice use of elevation, scenic views and some bomber holes (especially on the back 9). Pretty tricky in the wind - be prepared to lose a disc or two… With some actual teepads this course could contend for #1 spot.
@rachelturton
A beautiful, challenging course in the grounds of a castle. The course plays around a lake so take some spare discs in case you lose any. The teeing areas are well marked, but there are no permanent teepads and the grass can be quite long. The purple tournament layout is suitable for most players, families with older children and beginners, but children and shorter people might struggle to throw into / retrieve discs from the baskets as they're elevated to ~6ft. The gold tournament layout is long and difficult, I'd only recommend for people who can accurately throw further than 100m. Overall it's a lovely picturesque course and you can grab food and drink in the cafe and explore the castle afterwards. A grand day out!
@scottyp91
What a treat to play here, stunning views from the elevated positions, I thought the high baskets were going to cause issues but it was a welcome challenge.
@oodiscgolf
Front nine I wish was in my back garden, back nine is a different challenge but still absolutely loved it
@joshcatch
Absolutely beautiful course in an amazing location with incredible holes on offer, with lots of long, sweeping scenery to throw up and down. The course has raised baskets due to wildlife concerns, which, while interesting, are a negative for me. The holes were clearly designed with low baskets in mind, and overall were basically quite irksome. Hopefully something can be done in future to return the baskets to normal. The teepads are rough or not really there and a bit bumpy in spots, but not the end of the world. There were also some cattle on the final few holes towards the end of the day which would likely be an issue to play through. Despite these blemishes, the course still stands as by far one of the best and most exciting courses in the country, and is highly recommended. If these issues can be addressed, Ripley Castle could be the undisputed king of UK disc golf.
@domwestwell
a lot fun, not beginner friendly, lake and nettles are regular threats, and distance! raised baskets hopefully are not a permanent feature, holding the course back from its full potential (as well as a lack of teepads). the raised baskets are entertaining though when you’re not the one throwing, offering a unique challenge. beautiful scenery throwing in the grounds of the castle, some really fun shots and a real marathon to play. don’t expect to leave with a full bag! 💦 🌱 the course designer is a freak for hole 17 UK’s most dynamic course?
@mcdoogs
Beautiful challenging course
@johnpickford
Some imperfections but incredible course
@floriank89
Amazing course. Beautiful place. Cows included.
@pughsli
Has the potential to be the best course in the country, and a genuinely world class course with continued development. Installation of long course tee pads should be the next aim. I personally loved the all elevated baskets, which adds a unique twist to the course that you won't find anywhere else.
@leztravelvegan
Super hard course if you can't throw 100m for the back 9
@lukemeeds
A very beautiful new course with lots of potential! Could use a little more signage and arrows for where you’re going, got a little lost on a few of the par 4’s on the back nine. Adding a short tee’s layout would be a nice addition to UDisc. The tee pads are good for what they are. Though we had to pull a few out of the ground as they were getting very overgrown with grass. I would also recommend moving the tee pads about a meter away from the signs, to give room for the follow through. I would love to see some short tees on the back nine, as the scenery back there is absolutely incredible! We went with a few newbies and they were averaging 8 - 10 strokes on some of the bigger holes. Would probably make it a little more fun and less tiring for them. Was very pleased with the course overall though as an intermediate/advanced player.
@stowgood
Incredibly beautiful. Needs a short layout on the back 9 as the back 9 is basically a super gold layout and far too long for anyone but a pro. The back 9 is so beautiful and the baskets already exist, with better signage and a short layout all 18 holes could be viable and it'd be one of the best courses in the UK. Needs teepads. Unfortunately the super tall baskets really spoil it too, but I'd rather have the like that than no course at all. I hope they keep improving it as I could see myself visiting multiple times a month.
