The 100 U.S. Disc Golf Courses People Most Want To Play

It's a huge honor to be among the world's best disc golf courses or the top five disc golf courses in a U.S. state based on the ratings of players who've walked a track's fairways and experienced what it has to offer. It's also an accomplishment when your course builds such a great reputation that tons of disc golfers who've never stepped foot there are dreaming of the day that they can. Here we recognize 100 U.S. courses that are doing an amazing job at generating just that sort of hype.

The rankings are based on the number of times U.S. disc golf courses have been added to player wishlists in UDisc, the world's top disc golf app, over the last year.

How Does Wishlisting Disc Golf Courses in UDisc Work?

Every time you view a course on the UDisc app where you have no recorded rounds, you'll see the Add to Wishlist option to the right of the course rating. If you tap it,  the course is then added to your wishlist. When you search for courses, you can filter by wishlist and see where the courses are in the world that have caught your eye.

You can also see a map of every course you've wishlisted when you...

  1. Open the UDisc app
  2. Tap the More tab
  3. Scroll to Discover
  4. Tap Courses played / wishlist
  5. Tap Wishlist near the top of your screen

If you're going on trips, this is a great way to see if any of your must-plays are anywhere near your destination (or if you end up with clusters in certain areas, a good way to plan your next trip). Once you play a course, your wish has been fulfilled, and it leaves your wishlist.

How Did You Make the List of the 100 U.S. Disc Golf Courses People Most Want to Play in 2024?

The method behind these rankings is simple: We ranked U.S. courses based on how many disc golfers with UDisc added them to their wishlists over the last year. To keep these rankings fresh and reflective of what courses disc golfers are currently most interested in playing, no wishlist additions prior to a year from when we pulled the stats (early October 2024) were used to create these rankings.

Which U.S. States Have the Most Disc Golf Courses People Dream of Playing?

State  Disc Golf Courses in Top 100 Most Wishlisted: U.S.
Disc Golf Courses in Top 50 Most Wishlisted: U.S.
Disc Golf Courses in Top 20 Most Wishlisted: U.S.
North Carolina 15 8 2
Texas 7 3 1
Colorado 6 4 1
Michigan 5 3 1
Pennsylvania 5 1 1
Wisconsin 5 1 0

Like in 2023, disc golf courses in North Carolina appear far more often in our U.S.-focused wishlist rankings than those in any other state. And – also like in 2023 – five of the courses from the Tar Heel State are in or near Charlotte, North Carolina, which is one of the best places for disc golf in the country and world.

If you check out the table above, you'll see that means that the Charlotte area alone has more courses in the top wishlist rankings than all but 44 entire U.S. states.

You can learn more about two North Carolina tracks that made the list right here on this blog: Perennial world top 100 course Diavolo and the ever-more-esteemed Neatman Creek, which became the state's top-ranked disc golf course for the first time in 2024.

Some Things Worth Noticing About This Top 100

  • Is the Maple Hill getting easier to climb?
Spoiler: The hallowed Maple Hill in Massachusetts – current world #4, world #1 from 2021-2023, and host of the annual MVP Open on the Disc Golf Pro Tour – still reigns as the United States' most-wishlisted course. However, it didn't dominate the rankings as much as it did last year. In 2023, the #2 spot had 36.9% fewer wishlists. In 2024, the closest course is just 9% behind, and there were four total courses closer behind Maple Hill than 2023's #2 was.
  • McBumps
Two courses with connections to six-time pro world champion Paul McBeth are in the top 15 of the most wishlisted courses. One is the McBeth-designed New London Tech course, which is 2024's third most-wishlisted in the country likely thanks to getting in front of a lot of disc golfers' eyes as one host of the 2024 Professional Disc Golf World Championships. The other is Olympus Disc Golf Course, the new name of the Gran Canyon course in Florida where the popular Throw Down the Mountain tournament was held for years. The course was always temporary, but the property was going to be lost to disc golf forever before McBeth and Major League Baseball pitcher Dylan Cease decided to buy it and create a more regularly-open pay-to-play there.
  • No duds
The average rating of the courses in this top 100 is 4.7 out of 5. There are only five courses that made the cut that are rated below 4.5, with the lowest-rated of those coming in at 4.2.
  • Still no non-contiguous states in the top 100
Just like last year, neither an Alaskan or Hawaiian course made the top 100 though it feels like they're the sorts of places wishes are made for.

What to Know Before Reading This Top 100

  • Mobile and tablet users can swipe left/right on the table to see all columns.
  • You can see photos, reviews, availability, and more of any course in the table by just tapping or clicking its name.
  • The U.S. Wish Grade is based on how often a course was wishlisted in the UDisc app as compared to the #1 most wishlisted course in the country. Like a test graded on a curve, the #1 course has a score of 100.0 and the other courses' grades are based on how their wishlist totals measure up to that top mark.
  • The Rating is the course's rating out of five stars based on the opinions of disc golfers with UDisc at the time we pulled these stats shortly before the publication date. The current course rating may be different in the directory than it is here.
  • The layout difficulty rating symbols mean the following:
    easy-circleEasy

    moderate squareModerate

    gray-diamondChallenging

    double-black-diamondVery challenging

Click or tap to learn more about the UDisc course difficulty rating system. Courses with no symbols in this column have not created Smart Layouts, which are needed for course difficulty ratings.
  • A green dollar sign ($) under "Fee?" means a course is a traditional pay-to-play.
  • A gray dollar sign ($) under "Fee?" means donations are encouraged at the course but it is technically free to play.
  • A blue dollar sign ($) means that there is a fee associated with playing a course that isn't directly related to disc golf. Examples include parks that charge entry fees no matter what activity park-goers plan to do and parking fees.
  • No dollar sign means a course is free to play as far as we know.
