For years, we've released annual looks at the world's best disc golf courses, the best disc golf courses in each U.S. state, and the most popular disc golf courses in each state based on stats from UDisc, the world's top disc golf app. But something we've only done once is see which courses the highest number of people dream of playing.
Don't worry; we don't have a mind-reading or dream infiltration department. We can figure this out by checking which disc golf courses have been wishlisted by disc golfers with UDisc the most.
The 100 U.S. Disc Golf Courses People Most Want to Play: Navigation

How Does Wishlisting Disc Golf Courses in UDisc Work?
Every time you view a course on the UDisc app where you have no recorded rounds, you'll see the Add to Wishlist option to the right of the course rating. If you tap it, the course is then added to your wishlist. When you search for courses, you can filter by wishlist and see where the courses are in the world that have caught your eye.
You can also see a map of every course you've wishlisted when you...
- Open the UDisc app
- Tap the More tab
- Scroll to Discover
- Tap Courses played / wishlist
- Tap Wishlist near the top of your screen
If you're going on trips, this is a great way to see if any of your must-plays are anywhere near your destination (or if you end up with clusters in certain areas, a good way to plan your next trip). Once you play a course, your wish has been fulfilled, and it leaves your wishlist.
Currently, wishlisting isn't possible with the web version of the UDisc course directory.
How Did You Make the List of the 100 U.S. Disc Golf Courses People Most Want to Play in 2023?
We ranked U.S. courses based on how many disc golfers with UDisc added them to their wishlists in 2023. Because we plan to update these rankings annually and want them to reflect which courses are the freshest additions to disc golfers' daydreams, we didn't include any wishlist totals prior to January 1, 2023.

It seems that a lot of disc golfers are making like James Taylor and going to Carolina in their minds. With a whopping 16 courses in the top 100 most wishlisted in the United States, North Carolina has more by far than any other state.
Impressively, five of North Carolina's courses in the top 100 are all located in or very near one town: Charlotte. The state's most populous city is known as a disc golf mecca and has hosted the Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship for five years running.
Most of the other courses people are longing to play in the Tar Heel State – with the notable exception of the highly-regarded Diavolo – are in its western foothills and mountains. One of those in Asheville is among the best brewery disc golf courses in the world.
Some Things Worth Noticing About This Top 100
- Maple thrill
One course is head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to making wishlists: The legendary Maple Hill. This isn't particularly surprising given its reign as the world's #1 disc golf course in general for three years straight and the media attention the Disc Golf Pro Tour's annual MVP Open brings. Still, beating all other U.S. courses in the directory in wishlist total by nearly 40% is extremely impressive. - Four reasons most courses made the list
When we glance through this top 100, we see four strong themes that likely explain why most courses are there. In no particular order, the list is mostly courses that are A) top-rated, B) on the Pro Tour, C) near a big city, and/or D) very scenic. Only a very few courses don't fit in one or more of those categories. - The country's first permanent disc golf course makes the cut.
The first permanent disc golf course with baskets ever in the U.S. and world was installed in 1975 in what was then Oak Grove Park (now Hahamongna Watershed Park) in California, and it's still playable today. Despite all the new players post-pandemic, enough disc golfers knew their history to earn the course a spot in this top 100. - No non-contiguous states in the top 100
Despite dreamy backdrops like at Hawaii's Mauka Disc Golf Course or the call of adventure some might feel when taking a peek at the best course in Alaska, Kincaid Park, no course from either of these non-contiguous U.S. states made this post's top 100. Maybe disc golfers like dreaming of courses that seem a bit easier to get to, or maybe the word's just not out about these awesome places to experience unique rounds. - A great way to discover a new daydream
Given that helping other disc golfers discover great courses has always been at the core of UDisc's mission, we tend to keep tabs on which courses are building up reputations. However, this list gave even us a few new courses to drool over, and we hope it helps get your wonderlust running high, too.
What to Know Before Reading This Top 100
- Mobile and tablet users can swipe left/right on the table to see all columns.
- You can see photos, reviews, availability, and more of any course in the table by just tapping or clicking its name.
- The U.S. Wish Grade is based on how often a course was wishlisted in the UDisc app as compared to the #1 most wishlisted course in the country. Like a test graded on a curve, the #1 course has a score of 100.0 and the other courses' grades are based on how their wishlist totals measure up to that top mark.
- The Rating is the course's rating out of five stars based on the opinions of disc golfers with UDisc at the time we pulled these stats shortly before the publication date. Depending on when you read this, the course rating may be different in the directory than it is here.
- A green dollar sign ($) under "Fee?" means a course is a traditional pay-to-play.
- A blue dollar sign ($) means that there is a fee associated with playing a course that isn't directly related to disc golf. Examples include parks that charge entry fees no matter what activity park-goers plan to do and parking fees.
- No dollar sign means a course is free to play as far as we know.
